He reminds me of the hard working kids "backin the day" like Calbert Cheaney, Alan Henderson, Brain Evans, Eric Anderson et al who us fans RECOGNIZED as the heart and soul of past teams. DJ really has endured a lot while at IU, and he will always be remembered as sticking with IU - not Davis or Sampson - but I.N.D.I.A.N.A. This I think will be his legacy.
Eric Gordon.
I will always remember EJ because I gasped every time he drove recklessly into the lane. I prayed he would be fouled going to the hoop (he never makes the shot - ever), and not:
A.) dribbled off of his foot
B.) have it stolen
C.) have it swatted
D.) travel
E.) double dribble
F.) step out of bounds
You know you all do the same thing. He does have a knack for getting his 21 point every game, and he does a fair job on the defensive end. One thing that I don't like is he isn't very scrappy or seem to go at 110% like guys like DJ, Lance, or Taber.
Anyways, I guess my point is DJ is very deserving of his award and EJ sort of got his award by because no one else wanted it (The big ten frosh weren't as stellar as years past, contrary to popular belief).
CHEERS to the Hoosiers on Friday, and GO MINNESOTA on Thursday.
He's gone to the offensive glass much more lately (i.e. two monster put back dunks). He's attempted to hit midrange jumpshots...(think about a few during the Penn State game...especially that turnaround he made).
His 3 point shot is off...but he's taking open shots...so what can you say?
He's still getting his points
I'm still frustrated with his play...he turns the ball over way too much and is just plain out of control...but I DO see some signs of EJ attemping to improve his game.
I think the frustrating thing is that he's doing it alone. Neither Sampson nor Dakich seem to be working with him to improve his game, they've just taken any semblance of a leash and letting him "do his thing", which is really frustrating as a fan when you want to see your favorite players getting better.
