Inside the Hall: Trio of 2009 guards to attend Hoosier Hysteria

  • jaime gongora · 2 years ago
That is one heck of a trio. I'ts also great that Devin Ebanks will acompany all three of them on his official visit. Perhaps they could all realize that if they all go to one school that they could actually create something legendary. In turn the major publicity would help their NBA stock. They already have the natural skills, and Kelvin sampson, can teach them all the fundamentls to make them great college and NBA players.

beware of signing too many of these guys who'll be one and done. tough to build anything when guys are always heading out the door. a stud or two is essential. But you need to fill in the gaps with grinders.

I think thats what Derek Elston brings to the table already. Besides 2010 is a big class and the great ones come from the midwest. Unlike Mike Davis I think Sampson has Plan B already set.

Elston isn't a one or two year guy, but he's not a grinder either. He's got a good chance to become an All-Big Ten player.

Lets not forget Matt Roth will still be there....does anyone know anything else about midnight madness other than it starts with a v-ball game at 5:30pm?
  • kelin · 2 years ago
Does anyone know anything about this Big Ten Network? I have comcast so I am unfamiliar with it.....
  • Big A · 2 years ago
$5 I believe at the door or two canned goods.

As far as the Big Ten Network goes, I'd say it's pretty important to have. Many of the IU games are on it this year. If cable doesn't have it in your area, there's always DirecTV or Dish Network.

I can't wait to hear Comcast commercial on how they will televise over 20 of IU's games between there major networks....espn, espn2 etc etc. Then they will throw in they will also televise Pacer games.....I would make a Bud and Pacer joke but I won't even bother........

    10 days til midnight madness

    PS.
A few weeks ago I sent a picture of my 1 yr old son in an IU jersey in triple threat position I might add (seriously) to KS for an autograph. Needless to say I was very honored when he returned it with a nice note about fatherhood and a nice note to my son. I appreciate HIM the man for doing that cause he does not no me or my son and to take the time out to do so is a big deal.

Thanks Coach......now how about some tickets!

Great duo to go along with Kevin Jones, MM/HH should be one for the ages thats for sure.........

I too am hearing that Leslie McDonald will visit IU the following weekend, he is another HIGHLY related guard in the 09 class. It wouldnt surprise me one bit to see IU get 2 of the above mentioned players, adding to that equation is Wall out of NC. I like our chances for atleast 1 but I am beginning to think that 2 is very very possible...........

PS: Wish I could be there, hoping Time Warner Cable gets it together and gets the BTN, its killing me not being able to see the Fball games but the bball games just might seal my fate....vbg

Are the big guys like Jones still coming to Midnight Madness?
  • Big A · 2 years ago
Jones will be there. Ebanks will be there on his official visit and I believe Elston is going to come as well.
  • Clark · 2 years ago
You are correct Big A Elston will be there for HH.

I got a queston for you guys. As I understand it, Hoosier Hysteria has never sold out Assembly Hall. Last year was close to 15,000 and I heard it was the biggest crowd ever for Hysteria. I know 05 only had about 11,000.

So, will Assembly Hall be sold out this year for Hoosier Hysteria? Are the combination of Sampson's 2nd season, DJ White, Eric Gordon, and a Top 10 preseason rank enought to do the trick?

Personally, I think so, and it will be an incredible night.
  • kelin · 2 years ago
I think it will be sold out given KS, DJ, and especially a hometown kid...EJ. I very well may be there for the volleyball game.....
  • Clark · 2 years ago
I am going to be at the volleyball so I can get a good seat for HH.
  • kelin · 2 years ago
Clark...I want to do that also but I cannot fathom sitting through a volleyball game.....I guess I have to do what I have to do...I'd rather tailgate

oh poor babies. You get to go see gorgeous athletes compete under the comfort of Assembly Hall. Man you have it rough. Just joking, but I'm jealous that you guys are going. Send my love from chapel hill. I expect an update from you guys and anything you can tell me about the new recruits. Just in case you guys are curious UNC always sells out their midnight madness, thats only because there is no chance what so ever to get regular season game tickets, and this is the only time anyone from the public can participate during basketball season. Darn wine and cheese fans.

Kelin, I understand where you are coming from on that.
