Inside the Hall: Tom Crean statement on dismissed players

  • TomCoverdaleIUHero · 1 year ago
I dont know does this open up these scholarships for recruits................Maurice Sutton was the key that Eli was gone and i think Nick Williams said bye bye Jamarcus but we have no PG now Crawford is a 2 and i still think Ebanks really wants to go to IU so we might not b as bad as some of you think. A PG and Ebanks we could make this work we would be small down low with McGee at the 4 but we might be more atheltic then anybodt so who knows

uhh didn't ebanks verbally commit to memphis??
  • Ryan_Btown · 1 year ago
I didn't think he had verbally committed to anyone yet, but when he planned additional visits, he was going to Memphis, Texas, and Rutgers (????). His AAU coach has said repeatedly that they want to find a place where he can "shine" on a national stage, ie...he plans to be one and done. I feel like IU will have a lot of spotlight this year because of the rebuilding and with him, they could win some games, and lord knows he'd be the best on the team.

With all that said, Calipari's a crook and he'll end up at Memphis.

I'm with coach! Way to go. Clean house and do it right! Bring IU basketball back!

We may not be as bad some people may think next season.

“Our staff if going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,” added Crean.

    Thank-you sweet Jesus.....

As soon as I read these past 2 updates by Big A, I felt miserable. I'm glad to see all the positive attitudes from true Hoosier fans. Go Hoosiers!

I'll be sure to forward this post along to the second floor bartenders at Sport's and the local marijuana dealers. 3 of your top customers have vacated the Bloomington scene.

Crean has the right attitude and I hope that his recent statements indicate his decision-making philosophy. He has alot of work ahead of him, but if he really believes himself, it is going to work out in the end. IU will draw the talent, and Crean will have his players eventually. I look forward to watching this team develop. And I'll be rooting hard for the effort next year. No expectations, other than to be fundamenally sound and hard-working.

    Go Hoosiers!

Looks like the priest I called for has already conducted his exorcism - let the clean air in so we can all breathe again (hope this comment isn't too subtle). I don't know how many games they will win next year but we won't have to worry about what may happen to harm the program, you know they will play hard, and each year will just keep getting better.

This is great news for this reason.......there is one final chapter to all of this KS saga to go and that is dealing with the NCAA. There is no way in hell they would impose further sanctions with Coach Clean Crean cleaining house like he is.....hell a post season band at this point wouldn' t matter given we may not make the big ten tourney......

I am not sure if I want Ebanks....there is something fishy about him that I can't put my finger on.........
  • dale11 · 1 year ago
The fact that he is even thinking about going to memphis?
  • hoosierfan27 · 1 year ago
We're not getting Ebanks. I don't know why you continue to talk about that.
  • tberry · 1 year ago
    EXCELLENT!!!

Coach Crean understand what it takes to be one of the best. I am finally so proud to know that Indiana will be worthy of our success again.

I do have few questions though....

What is the deal with saying Deandre "was not a good fit?" I have wondered if he had separated himself from Ellis but apparently not. I'm thinking if one had to go they both had to go. Sad thing for Armon because he can really play.

Nice post regarding the Sutton kid upsetting Holman. I thought there was more to that story. At worst Eli would compete against this guy for a starting role. Why couldn't you start them both? When is the last time we had 4 big men that could play? We just can't hold onto any of them.

I feel sorry for Crean to have to deal with this soap opera. We don't need any more national attention like this. I'm still thinking with Dumes, Crawford, Williams, McGee and maybe Sutton at center and you have a little something to work with. Crawford can carry the team we all know that. Hopefully they cut him loose next season.

What is the deal with saying Deandre "was not a good fit?"

It means they would have too expand the door openings to the locker room...!!
  • MikeinNC · 1 year ago
I thought it meant that they couldn't find a pair of candy cane striped warm up pants that would actually fit him. I was at the Arkansas game in Raleigh, sitting in a neutral area of the crowd....when he came into the game the first time, there was audible chuckling and I could see people flipping through the program, seeing his weight listed as 295 and making jokes...it was pretty embarrassing....a lot of comments about how any coach could allow someone to stay on the active roster playing at that weight. I think Deandre would be a good fit on a Krispy Kreme-sponsored AAU team....
  • Kelin Blab · 1 year ago
I think sayind Deandre isn't a good fit is based on the uptempo style of play he likes and that ain't Deandre

I think Eli got use to IU only have ONE big man and he wanted to be that ONE big man...prediction.....
    * Armon Bassett to UAB or Cincy
    * Jamarcus Ellis and Deandre will not sit out and go to a lower division
    * Eli Holman will not play Div. 1 basketball......he sat out his senior year, his frosh year, and now a trasnfer year.......can' t see it happening....
