I was wondering about that but maybe Crean just means he needs to be even more in shape. He could be at the same place he was last year, but it's just not enough anymore. For Pritchard's sake, I hope that's the case.

I could analyze what he said and talk about basketball here. But today, I just want to say that I love Coach Crean. I know it sounds corny, but he just seems like a great guy and I am so proud to have him coaching the Hoosiers.

this is great i love it. coach crean is a consumate professional. i know some of us felt let down by his hire at the time. but we have our man!!

Especially after we have hired the new "Coordinator of Basketball Systems???" With his history and experience during those 3-4 years out of college we can't miss. Doesn't hurt that he is part of the AAU player pipeline!!!????

There is a fair amount of info on Kanter out there. Basic story: Turkish born, Switzerland raised, moved to US for ball. 6'10" Euro Center. Going to HS in Beckley, WV. Was making impression at age group level in Europe.

There appears to be a ton of schools going after this kid, so it might be hard for Crean to cut through all the noise. IMO, its too early to start thinking of him as anything more than a target.

I hate to even say it, but I think they will have a lot to prove this year. But when Coach Crean points to those two as disappointments in the individuals, it makes you wonder if they will last.

Also, weren't they the last two Denim Shirt recruits? Makes you wonder, that's all I'm saying.....

I read that last night too. Saw it on the ITH twitter feed, reported by Jeff Goodman who confirmed it from the kids coach.

Any way we can get a list of all the home visits as that information becomes available?

No Kelin Nothing up my___. Heard about this guy about a month ago. Could have made millions playing in Europe,but chose to play in the US. I have read that when he decides to turn pro,he will be a top 5 pick. Home town is : Zurich, Switzerland. Plenty on him on line, let me know if you can find it. I drool at the thought of this guy and Irving. Let see if the Basketball Gods are watching

I hate to get off subject. But I saw that coach in visiting Enes Kanter tonight. Do you think we have a fair chance of drawing him to IU? With this guy and Irving. We would be scary lol.

I am at the peak of skepticism after the "Help is on the Way!" and Denim Shirt Years, but the more I hear from and see Coach Crean, the more I am convinced we got the right guy.

I am really excited to see VJ III's development, how Rivers is going to help this team with turnovers, and if our bigs can compete on the Big 10 level. I was disappointed that Roth and Pritch did not come ready, it makes the predictions of their impending departure seem more and more imminent.

Sweet story Mike. A buddy of mine was at the final four this past year and ran into CTC outside Lucas Oil Stadium. Coach was with his wife and kids and my friend just said something like "Hey Coach, great job this year" and Crean saw his IU hat, took it off his head and pulled a sharpie out. My friend didn't really feel like he could tell him "no" that he really didn't want to wear a signed hat around, so Crean went ahead and signed it. They chatted for about 5 minutes, there were people everywhere that were starting to notice and gather around. My friend felt bad for Crean and his family, but Coach didn't really seem to care. I love the story when my friend tells it.

Agree with both of you BGleas and Kelin. Crean has been very very good at his marketing/PR. This YouTube video ranks up there with my other highlight for me which was finally getting an IU Basketball Season ticket application in the mail... be still my beating heart

noticed that. To anyone that might be interested the text from D Wade's induction to the Marquette hall of fame speech is on the official IU website for mens bball. Not suprisingly he has some very good things to say about CTC. I can believe the things that he says after meeting CTC before he even became our head coach. Met him at the convention center connected to the Hoosier Dome the last time the national championship was held there. I approached him to ask if he would mind if my friend & I could take a picture with him. Then decided to ask him if he had time for us to each have one taken by ourselves with him. His reply was heck we can take all the pictures you want. Do you know my assistant coach Bennie Seltzer he can take all the pictures you want. He then introduced us to him as well as others and then hollered for his players that was there to come over to where we were and introduced us to them as well. Then something happened that made me believe he really believes the BECAUSE ITS INDIANA thing. We thanked him for his time and told him we didn't want to take up any more of his time to which he said are you guys from Indiana, we answered yes, to which he replied you guys are from Indiana and you don't want to talk about bball? He was nice enough to talk to us for over 30 minutes about bball as well as other things. I wanted this man as our head coach both times that it was avaible and can still remember where I was and what I was doing when it was announced.

You 102% right on this....and so is Crean. Another avenue to connect to a fanbase the only expands it and separates the IU fanbase from others....and these small things go a long way in building a program.

As an IU fan and someone that works in PR/Marketing and handles Social Media for my company, I absolutely love what Tom Crean is doing in this area. He just flat out gets what it means to connect with fans and provide behind the scenes/relevant content that people want.

Nowhere else could we get a report like this, not from the Indy Star, not from Demling or even from ITH (which we love!). Tom Crean's understanding of Social Media and connecting with fans, alumni, students and recruits is going to pay off big time in the long run.

** Hey lay off Mike Davis he had great player development, just because you guys didn't like 15 dribbles then a fade away shot with 3 seconds left on the shot clock wasn't his fault(you can't teach those skills).....what about the great conditioning of Marco?

Exactly what I was going to say. I really love Tom Crean. Being able to follow him on twitter gives you a great look into who he is off the court. On Labor Day he was playing video games with his son and you could hear his competitiveness seeping through as he mentioned his 9 interceptions. This video was really a great way to speak directly to the fans.

Also, anyone else notice the signed D Wade jersey in the background?

I love the insights on the program you can get from a video like this and some of CTC's twitter messages. I was going to comment about Matt Roth on the previous thread. I really think Roth has a place on this roster - there is always room for people that can shoot. And, I'm particulary interested in the player development that takes place in all of our returners. Think back to the Mike Davis era - there was no development from any of those guys under Davis. But I'm a bit alarmed by coach's comments that Roth needs to get better at making open shots. I hope he means something like improving on 8/10 from 30 feet to something like 10/10.
