    This is the kind of decision making that must be done with all of the things that have happened AND with what MAY happpen. These are the kind of smart decisions that I expected when TC was named as our new head coach. These are the kind of smart decisions that will have to be made for years to come and I for one think TC is up to the challenge. Take notes RG for if you find someone dumb enough to hire you you will need all the help you can get.

    While it sounds like this will technically evade the NCAA sanctions, it does seem that the spirit of those restrictions is being ignored. If the NCAA believes that IU is trying to "pull the wool over their eyes", this could be something that pushes them into more retribution.

    Seems to me that someone is either working for IU or they aren't. Who will be supporting this individual this summer while they travel all over the country watching all these potential recruits? Are they wealthy and don't need to work for anyone? Is someone else paying them? If so why would that someone bankroll IU? Are they contacting these recruits and if so who do they represent themselves to be? Who do the recruits and coaches think they are?

    Are they working for IU or not? ... Was Sampson making phone calls or not? Makes me wonder exactly where we are headed. We really can't afford anymore deceptions.

    Could be more than one candidate which makes waiting quite normal. I think it is normal for any fan to fear the irrationalality of the NCAA.

    However if we are encouraged to interpret the "spirit" of a rule then why not this:

    1. Eliminate calls less than 2 min in duration as typically done by NCAA
    2. COunt Morris twins as 2 players
    3. COunt calls within 15 or 20 min as "continuation of 1 call"
    4. Consider if IU actually achieved an advantage ( any player come to IU ?)
    5. If 30 days elapsed between calls why is that NOT a month ?

    If they did this then we are down to pretty much BS level of violations , less than 30 calls. I donot think they can be hard on the rules and then ding us for following the rules to our advantage in this case.

    There may be more than one applicant but that is not what the article is saying.

    It is also important to remember that the spirit of the law is what the NCAA says it is, not IU, you or me. Whether you think the NCAA's action were BS or not is of no real importance, it is what the NCAA sees as important.
