Inside the Hall: The weekend that was: Robert Vaden edition

I wonder if Mike Davis would have stated the same thing if UAB would have lost the game? I think Robert Vaden made a big mistake by following Mike Davis to UAB. Vaden will not improve as a player. Remember, Vaden had a few similar type performances during his IU days. He is a very streaky shooter and does not play good defense and should also rebound the ball alot better for his size. Otherwise, good luck to Davis and Vaden. Finally, I don't care much about Purdue having success only if IU has been dominating the basketball world than the IU/PU rivarly would make it interesting. However, I would rather IU run off a very long win streak against Purdue.

The IU v PU game this year will be INTENSE!

MPMIKE, I thought vaden was a really good defender..but maybe I'm thinking of someone else!

    Big A,
As much as I dislike Korntucky, wouldnt you want them to win some (any) games to help make our W appear stronger? My train of thought is to root for anyone we beat.

Its not college football,we will be in the tourny weather UK loses the rest of their games or not, I want to see UK lose and lose big. I was pumped watching Vaden drain 3's on those rednecks. Maybe Ryan should visit the bluegrass state so he can develop a hate for big blue nation as well.

RYAN, you hit the nail right on the head. Why would you root against anyone we beat? The NCAA Tourney Committee looks very closely at a team's RPI and strength of schedule when seeding for the tournament. And like it or not, our non-conference schedule has been soft to say the least. On the same note we've been doing what we're supposed to do by beating the crap out of the cupcakes for the most part... but bottom line, we need the teams we beat to win!!

It is really a catch 22 cause you schedule the SIU's and KY...who I believe were both ranked at some point...it isn't IU's fault they suck. But the NCAA (those kind kind people they are) does look at who we beat. Which is why the Big Ten season is even more important now....

BIGT- Robert Vaden played some defense at times but it wasn't consistent and I believe that he will never really reach his full potential as a overall player at UAB. Maybe he will develop it in the NBA as a free agent or some other professional league.

Well Dan Jezierny had it in his heart to vote us 21 with his AP vote this week (what the hell did IU ever do to him)? But leave it up to another dumba## to leave us out, Dan Weber out of California and the Riverside Press-Enterprise thought we were not deserving of a top 25 vote. The funny thing is last week he ranked us 17! I guess when you win by almost FIFTY you should drop out of the top 25. Oh well the only real poll that matters is the one in April.

Seems like some Hoosier fans have the IDKWTI hater syndrome that illois has for EJ in regards to Vaden. Robert was a lock down defender and steady player for us. It seems many forget how he won our ncaa tourney game against san diego with his steal and 3.

Vaden was our best all around player when he was at IU. He got five and a half boards a game and shot 42 percent from three the last year he was at IU. He was our best defender and rebounder (for his size). I'm not sure you and I are thinking of the same Robert Vaden, MP. He was easily the best overall player on the team. The guy doesn't have a weakness.

Steve O said: "The NCAA Tourney Committee looks very closely at a team’s RPI and strength of schedule when seeding for the tournament."

If IU goes 30-3 or whatever, wins the Big 11 tourney, and only loses to Xavier and a couple solid Big 11 teams on the road, they'll be a 1 or 2 seed without question. I guess my point is that RPI won't matter if this very talented team, with a very talented coach takes care of business.

I've watched MSU, OSU and Wisc. (and NW and PSU). None looks as talented as the Hoosiers. Solid for sure, but not as explosive. (I haven't seen the Boilers yet, but have heard nothing but good things...but we get them only once, and it's inside the hall ;)

The selection comittee will recognize the greatness of this team, RPI notwithstanding.
