Good, Bad and Ugly: Loyola (Md.)
1. The hype around it because of the tape confiscation made it better than it was.
2. It was a during a pick up game play where you didn't expect him to dunk it
3. It was not a one hand dunk over King James it was a TWO hand where Jordan went up much higher.
4. Lebron jumped to block it but wound up on a poster.
Overall if it were during a game, say at Assembly hall, the place would have gone NUTS. Given it was a pick up game there was still some reaction.
Now Brandon " Clank" McGee ? ...................I still get a chuckle recalling his dunk getting stuffed against Michigan ......................by the stationary inanimate rim...........which was not even trying.
:-)
.... Roth in my opinion had/has the most work to do to get PT. Adding to your list I think his biggest weakness is quickness on D and a lack of "counter" offensive move like a shot fake/drive and mid range shot.
You are right about Roth and his D. I thin his D could be related to his physical ability that hopefully with strength and quickness is improving. Roth with a mid range game is tough to stop.....and with basketball it doesn't take more than a dribble or two, to have an effective mid range game........kids seem to have forgotten that.
First of all, Morgan does sound pretty enticing if he can shoot like that consistently. I mean he's 6'5 and 200 pounds, pretty good for a wing already. And Demling described him as having a "great stroke and a quick release", which, all sexual jokes aside, is a pretty nice assessment to have. It would be great if he could lock down wings too - Crean was just talking about the need for a guy who can lock down the 3.
There was another part of Demlings article that I thought was important: "Joe said he was told by the UK staff that he's "the No. 1 point guard" target." I assume that if word gets around on that, Irving will be even less likely to go to UK. Demling also mentioned that he thinks Irving will end up with us, but I'm really more excited about hearing that UK is actively going after Irving replacements.
Morgan seems to be moving up the ranks. Given his level of play, family background, and how I think the fans would be behind him, I can see him being a valuable contributor to this class.
By the way, Kyrie Irving, IU's top target for 2010, isn't in Vegas. He's in Orlando at the AAU nationals. We're planning to beef up our AAU coverage (we'll cover more events, we covered three this year) as time goes along. Baby steps people, baby steps.
