Inside the Hall: The Jordan Crawford/LeBron James video has leaked, and it’s disappointing

  • Kelin Blab · 5 months ago
mmm I am going to give it a 8 out of 10.
    1. The hype around it because of the tape confiscation made it better than it was.
    2. It was a during a pick up game play where you didn't expect him to dunk it
    3. It was not a one hand dunk over King James it was a TWO hand where Jordan went up much higher.
    4. Lebron jumped to block it but wound up on a poster.

Overall if it were during a game, say at Assembly hall, the place would have gone NUTS. Given it was a pick up game there was still some reaction.

Not that great. king james was way out of position and would never get dunked on while face guarding him. Solid dunk. WAY TOO HYPED!
  • ricbraun · 5 months ago
Anybody can be dunked on while face guarding their opponent, even LeBron. I'm glad this story can go away now
  • JerryCT · 5 months ago
Imagining it was more exciting than actually seeing it. It just did not appear to a very competitive or contested play. Still, l liked Crawford because I felt he was not afraid to compete against anyone. As such I believe he did not give any thought to LeBron trying to block it.........he would have tried this on Bill Russell, Shaq etc as well.

Now Brandon " Clank" McGee ? ...................I still get a chuckle recalling his dunk getting stuffed against Michigan ......................by the stationary inanimate rim...........which was not even trying.

I wonder who will have a better college career Brandon McGhee or Eli Holman
  • because it's Indiana · 5 months ago
I hope Eli, I'm trying to sell TMZ a picture from my cell phone of him posterizing a potted plant.

I think the answer to that question is: Cem Dinc
    :-)
  • bahickma · 5 months ago
I think he declared for the draft actually. Laughing, but not kidding.
  • Sallad · 5 months ago
Completely anticlimactic. However, I heard from someone that the reason Nike confiscated it was because Jordan was wearing Adidas apparel as he dunked over Lebron in his Nike gear...while possible, I find it hard to believe that anyone at Lebron's camp would wear anything other than Nike.

Also, saw the team out on campus getting lunch today. No Bawa or Mo Creek with them, which really shouldn't be surprising. They seemed like they all got along really well, and it made me smile.

Thanks for the update. Need more of these ninja updates

Has Tom Pritchard put on weight? I see him everyday walking into Ballantine Hall, but I've never been close up to him so I can't tell if he's always been that gargantuan or if he's gotten bigger. Either way, he looks solid. Like a brick shithouse.

Why is it I have registered on Disqus and everytime I try to log in it still says I'm a guest? This is nuts. I can't post under my name. I have registered 3 times now and still can't post. Anyway, I was at the Hall on Tues. afternoon and the door was open to the floor. I went in and watched about 10 minutes of some shooting around by the team before they headed off with the strength coach to the weight room. Hulls, Roth and Jones appear to have added some bulk. Watford needs to add some pounds. Can't wait for the season to begin.

I have heard nothing but good things about Hulls and I just think this kid is a winner and will be the Tom Coverdale at IU....aka billy bad ass! If roth adds weight, works on footwork, and his ball handling it will be hard to keep him on the bench. THe kid has confidence in his game.
  • JerryCT · 5 months ago
Hope you are right. Why however do you think we are recruiting top 50 players as Hulls replacement already in Irving/Carlino/Teague etc.? I know this worries you becasue you are vocal about gettin more/better bigs.

.... Roth in my opinion had/has the most work to do to get PT. Adding to your list I think his biggest weakness is quickness on D and a lack of "counter" offensive move like a shot fake/drive and mid range shot.
  • Kelin Blab · 5 months ago
Jerry my only thoughts about this are....Crean seems to be comfortable running a guard oriented offense. Hulls and Carlino seem to be more pure point, Irving and Teague are those 'combo' guards which isn't a bad formula to have. I think it may workout with Hulls, Irving, and Carlino in the long term. Crean did mention in an article I read he is focusing on recruiting big guys more.

You are right about Roth and his D. I thin his D could be related to his physical ability that hopefully with strength and quickness is improving. Roth with a mid range game is tough to stop.....and with basketball it doesn't take more than a dribble or two, to have an effective mid range game........kids seem to have forgotten that.

I think that Hulls is probably too lightly built to ever be the power point guard that Coverdale was. The player that comes to my mind is Michael Lewis. Scrawny and scrappy. Hulls has better court awareness than either, imo.
  • sacajacabuncar · 5 months ago
When I stood next to Hulls, he definitely is no Michael Lewis in stature. He's already bigger than Lewis was at this phase and maybe throughout his career. I don't think Hulls will get to Coverdale size, but he is looking solid. Elston looks solid as well. He'll need to add some more, but standing next to him, he's solid. Tijan is cut, but could stand a few more pounds. Watford needs to eat 10 times a day to add some bulk! Another day closer to Hoosier Hysteria. Can't wait.

Make sure everyone reads demlings stuff. He has mentioned Carlino is tearing it up with South in Vegas. He also mentioned Moses Morgan has been very impressive. I wonder why more coaches don't use south formula and take their teams to AAU tourneys....I think South finshed second last year probaly because they are being coached and run stuff and play defense.

I was just about to mention Demling's Day 2 article.

First of all, Morgan does sound pretty enticing if he can shoot like that consistently. I mean he's 6'5 and 200 pounds, pretty good for a wing already. And Demling described him as having a "great stroke and a quick release", which, all sexual jokes aside, is a pretty nice assessment to have. It would be great if he could lock down wings too - Crean was just talking about the need for a guy who can lock down the 3.

There was another part of Demlings article that I thought was important: "Joe said he was told by the UK staff that he's "the No. 1 point guard" target." I assume that if word gets around on that, Irving will be even less likely to go to UK. Demling also mentioned that he thinks Irving will end up with us, but I'm really more excited about hearing that UK is actively going after Irving replacements.

The vids I've seen of Carlino this summer show him playing very much within himself and working to set up his teammates. That's good. He isn't worrying about getting attention, he's working on his game.

Morgan seems to be moving up the ranks. Given his level of play, family background, and how I think the fans would be behind him, I can see him being a valuable contributor to this class.

Every year, come tournament time, one thing that gets repeated over and over is how important guard play is, especially at the point. You need a guy who can limit mistakes, run the team, and not get flustered. It looks like we have multiple guys that can do that for the next half decade. Rivers, Hulls, Carlino - they all fit the description of what you want from a point guard during the tournament. On top of that, they're essentially 2 years apart, so each time a new guy comes in, the older guy will have some experience to hand down. Of all the recruiting news that has me excited for the future, it's the fact that we have solid run-the-team point guards for the foreseeable future. That's great.

Anyone else get a hunch Ferguson may end up at Detroit Mercy since he switched AAU teams to play w/ McCallum? Just a thought. If he's a potential head case as some have suggested, this may be a good spot for him.
  • Kelin Blab · 5 months ago
mmm that thought crossed my mind but I doubt it, they have about 4 guys with the same skill set as DF.......I wonder if they will play South again this year.
  • GFDave · 5 months ago
Thanks for the info on Hulls. Good stuff.
  • hoosierboy · 5 months ago
Is there a good website that gives updates on Vegas and how the IU prospects are doing? Anybody got a link?
  • Alex · 5 months ago
The best free resource would be Jody Demling's blog: http://www.courier-journal.com/blogs/demling/bl...

By the way, Kyrie Irving, IU's top target for 2010, isn't in Vegas. He's in Orlando at the AAU nationals. We're planning to beef up our AAU coverage (we'll cover more events, we covered three this year) as time goes along. Baby steps people, baby steps.

i dont think we should give so much fuss over this. it doesn't make james a lesser player for being dunked over by a non-NBA player. period.
