how much better does this make me feel about IU's situation!! i cant believe the AD gets another chance to hire another coach.. for Kentucky’s sake they better follow IU's footsteps and go to Oklahoma to find their new coach.. no established coach will touch this with a 10 foot pole!

Imagine, if you will, if that was coach Knight in Gillespie's place. I think the hospital report would read something like "patient arrived with TV camera inserted in rectum and stabbed through head with microphone." At least Knight wouldn't have done the fake phone call and security door thing.

Too funny. Gillispie has a press conference scheduled for 10:00 on Saturday. Given that this is how the man deals with a walk up reporter, the press conference could be a classic.

I'm glad that Anthony Grant got the Alabama position. I would be really scared if he took over the ken(ucky) position. I know they probably would not have given him a stare, but I'm not afraid to go on the record, by saying he is going to be a special coach.

First the reporter is an idiot.....but it is his job.....
Secondly, whats up with Bloomington TV reporters, why couldn't they run down KS so we could get some comical footage of KS on the 'phone' as he got fired....as if there wasn't plenty of time to catch KS on the phone!
Third, Donavan says no, Grant is at ALabama, Callepari will say no, don't bother calling Izzo, Travis Ford will get a call and so will Brad Stevens from Butler.......not sure why Pelphry isn't on the list....

The top two on the wish list are reportedly Izzo and Matta. In that order.
Not sure why everyone thinks Izzo would leave State, makes no sense to me.....Matta, I doubt as well, I thought Matta if he were to leave it would have been IU but KY is not your Joe B. Hall's KY anymore....

All the big names being mentioned now are exactly the same as they were two years ago. It was pure delusion then and it remains so. If these coaches spurned pUKe then I don't see anyway that they would sign on now. The situation is much worse this time around and, if I were a coach, I would worry about the treatment I could expect from the fan base.
I am excited by the possible recruiting opportunities for IU. Crean got started too late last year to get in on some of these kids, but now the ground may even out a bit.

There is no way to justify the idiocy of that reporter. He knew he wasn't going to get a quote so he just decided to be a jackoff. However, Billy is making 2.3 million/year so you can't feel real sorry for the coach.

I'm glad I'm not Billy Gillispie cause one of those boys would of been laid out! I can't help but love watching all of Kentucky blue faithful squirm right now because the fact of the matter is they brought all of this on themselves. They give a guy two years to produce and if he is not winning national titles they cut ties. Historically, if you look at every great coach they took their lumps during their first few years. Hell in North Carolina during Dean Smith's first few years they literally had a noose and was ready to hang'em up when he wasn't producing and we see how that turned out. They are getting everything they deserve right now. Last year was a bad place to be in being a Hoosier fan, but we were getting rid of a coach who was cheating. They are hanging themselves for no reason and I love it. I was at the Whistle Stop down the road from Lucas Oil Stadium after the Louisville/Arizona game let out last night just laughing it up with some of the Louisville fans at how pathetic Kentucky is making themself look right now. Cheers to this hot mess at our southern border, I guess if you guys don't have basketball there's always screwing your cousin to look forward to. Enjoy the next couple of months Kentucky and have a pleasant day!

He was operating under a memorandum of understanding, not a contract. The memorandum calls for a buyout of $6 million that the UK AD said yesterday they would not pay in full. In his press conference today, Gillispie said the memorandum acts as a contract and he's due all $6 million. Let the legal battle ensue.

I wonder if Cutler was one of the media types that Billy didn't treat too well. I don't buy into conspiracy theories that the media had it in for him, but I could easily buy that he wanted to get back at Gillispie once it was clear he was fired.

We've been through coaching changes and down periods (like now!), and it's never pleasant. It's no wonder everyone thinks the media are idiots. This is not the first time for Cutler to be an a$$ chasing someone who obviously has no comment. Coaches know who the a$$es are... and that is why they have to stoop to such tactics as this to get publicity.
Even the guys on the video... they more or less condone the actions of this guy.
Tubby Smith is an amazing man to put up with this crap for as long as he did.
