I could not understand why Roth went under that screen every time, they ran the same play, why not go over the top as Diebler was just going to jack it from that spot?

I saw them too , especially Lauderdale late in the game and you are right.

BUT moving screens are part of the game so a player needs to know how to respond. Option #1 is impede the shooter's path somewhat like a CB does to a WR at the line of scrimmage. If the guy easily goes by you then you are forced to chase and already at a major disadvantage. The defender of the screener can also alter the path but we donot usually do that.

To be fair to Matt Roth, it's hard to avoid a moving screen.

I liked the game as we moved the ball crisply early only to slow down as the game wore on. We did not have so many "resets" of the offense costing us valuable time on the shot clock. Lower TO's and good FT's as well.

We scored enough to win getting help from everyone including Taber who , for me, was our most consistent player in his role on both ends of the floor. Their big guys did not beat us.

Unfortunately we are not able to defend the perimeter especially Roth who tries hard but cannot quite avoid the screens enough to contest the shot until too late.

Seems to me we are in fact getting better

Jordan Hulls is the next Redick: the total package. Roth is a specialist more like Steve Kerr.

Yeah, I'd say he's more Todd Leary or Pat Graham at this point than JJ Reddick.

EXPERIENCE

If we didn't have talent, we'd be losing by 30 points every game...we don't have any incredible players, but I see a good number of our players getting significant playing time the rest of their careers here.

There's been constant improvement as these guys gain experience playing tough games and more importantly, playing together. Experience helps build confidence...and we don't have much of either at this point.

This team has plenty of talent...but they're basically all freshmen!

i had the honor of talking to matt roth earlier on facebook and congratulating him.. he's a great kid and i let him know i appreciated the effort he and the guys layed forth.. a win is right around the corner. i can only imagine what will happen when back up arrives next year.. it makes me smile just thinking about it! :)

Killed us going without Pritchard for prolonged periods in the middle of the second half. He was able to keep the OSU defense honest and allowed our outside shooters some very open looks as well as being accountable for some points on his own -- Taber just isn't the same in there.

Lets relax on calling him the next Reddick. He is going to have to prove he can defend and do more than shoot spot up 3's to play a lot of minutes next year. He is a good square up shooter and and when he is streaking he is a great shooter. The problem with team is they aren't good enough to be consistent for an entire game. They are getting better and closer as can be seen by the closer games. I feel for the coaching staff it has to be unbelievably frustrating

How does one get good? By playing & making mistakes and gaining MORE EXPERIENCE.

I see more confidence growing every game!

I mentioned earlier that Roth looked more confident, but I didn't expect this. WOW!

I'd say we played well until about the 10 minute mark of the second half..maybe with 8 min to go....30-32 min of pretty solid basketball...especially considering our opponent was on fire most of the game...

We responded well to most of Ohio State's challenges...but when you're a team without confidence, you can't pull these kind of games out.

Roth was a freak show today...hopefully he can get open again a few times this year when we need it.

Pretty decent effort for the Hoosiers...let's find that W!
