Great insight by Coach Dakich. His testimony as to the impact of all of this on some very good people is telling. Wonder what he meant by his comments about the managers. Was not aware that any of the student managers at IU had ben involved with the calling or the sanctions. Coach Dakich is always one to tell the truth. Hope he lands the right job. Lots to offer the sport.

Once we got the failure to monitor charge from the NCAA Greenspan could not be rehabilitated in the eyes of the folks. We needed him to leave and clear the rotten air.

So too , as much as I liked Dakich and supported him he needed to go for the same reason ..........a fresh start with a clean slate w/o the media dwelling on Dakich and the past.

I agree he should be commended for what he did, but just like Greenspan I think he should be kept away from the players at least. To completely get past last year everything needs to change and sometimes the good people have to get caught up in a changing adminstration

Many people, I included, assaulted Dakich for some of his actions during his tenure at IU. Personally, I feel like an idiot now, as i really look at how bad of a situation he was in. If only he had AD experience, he would be perfect. He has the IU spirit, and understands what needs to be done.

I admire Dakich for being brutally honest when it's not always easy (or the popular thing) to do. He was put into the middle of a firestorm and instead of letting the inmates run the asylum, he came to the conclusion that enough was enough. Sure, he probably could have won more games and had the team rally around him if he were a more likeable guy and let the shenanigans continue, but he was disgusted with what was going on. I hope he'll continue to be involved at least indirectly with the program in some fashion because he's a winner who does things the right way.

I like Dakich, especially because he tells it like it is. You can't help but believe its the truth when he gives it to you so straight. But I can also see why so many people have trouble getting along with him. He attacks every problem with a hammer, and some jobs require multiple tools which Dakich either doesn't have or just doesn't use.

Crean, on the other hand, seems to have all the tools you need: basketball mind, teaching ability, a hammer for discipline, cheerleading for the fans, and salesmanship for fundraising and recruiting. With the inhererent resources of IU, Crean will take Hoosier basketball back to the top in a short time.
