I didn't notice......
Actually, it was ridiculous how last night and still this morning I couldn't find anything on any of the ESPN networks except coverage of that game. Do they really think that people want to just keep talking about that game for hours and hours. Give me the score and move on.....It is kind of like Super Bowl week when your team is not in the game. Too much coverage.

Re: Proof that Tom Crean’s human: Audible frustration

because UNC and Duke are ESPN's and CBS's cash cow. I'm in madrid now, but I also live in NC. They are the untouchables of the sports world. When tyler Zeller played with former tar heels in a pick up game, no one made a big deal out of that either. I don't mind being punished as long as everyones is treated the same.

Re: Proof that Tom Crean’s human: Audible frustration

Off topic here, but did anyone else watch the Duke-UNC game last night (dumb question because EVERYONE obviously drops everything to pay attention when they play, right?)? Why was Singler not ejected from the game when he hit Hansbrough in the face with an elbow?

Devan Dumes, Manny Harris, Zach Novak, and Walter Hodge (I think even more, but I can't remember) have all been given flagrant fouls and ejected from games in the past month, often followed by suspensions. But Singler sends an elbow right to the face of the POY and nothing. I just don't get it, because that hit looked like the most intentional and violent of anything that has happened, and yet no punishment.

Re: Proof that Tom Crean’s human: Audible frustration

I have no problem with those comments at all. It's simple psychology. If he doesn't state he believes they can win then we might as well not show up.

We have all seen freshmen hit a wall. Guys our whole team are freshmen and has hit a wall. For these guys to lose by less than 10 points in any Big Ten game is nearly a miracle.

Crean deserves all of the credit in the world. The refs give us NO RESPECT. I've never understood the unwritten rule that bad teams don't get the same calls. Did you guys see Pritchard's 5th foul? Downright awful!

Re: Proof that Tom Crean’s human: Audible frustration

These words are Crean motivating his team... great coach....

Re: Proof that Tom Crean’s human: Audible frustration

I agree. I think the important note to take from this is that Crean is becoming critical of team that is obviously capable of winning but is making mistakes and not playing at their highest capability. Crean has realized over the past few weeks of close losses (and one win!) that this team is better than their record. So he's beginning to demand more results from them.

This is a leap forward for the program. This first year isn't over and the team has already moved past the "ah, look at how hard they play" stage into being criticized for their under performance just like any normal team with some kind of expectations.

Re: Proof that Tom Crean’s human: Audible frustration

Glad to see his comments. Enough putting it in perspective, he should expect more. Playing hard is comendable, not improving on turnovers is not. Only way to improve is to expect more and better play. Seems from the begining of the season things have switched and Jones, Williams are playing better and Pritchard is wearing down.

Re: Proof that Tom Crean’s human: Audible frustration

i dont know about being more physical, but the turnovers.... the turnovers...... sometimes when i am watching and it gets sloppy i just cant watch..i literally change the channel.. i cant imagine whats going through coaches mind..

Re: Proof that Tom Crean’s human: Audible frustration

can you blame him??

Re: Proof that Tom Crean’s human: Audible frustration

Jerry, could not agree more. These guys have been a real pleasure to root for. I will agree with Coach Crean that fundamentals are lacking a bit, but those will catch up when the game slows down for these guys. You have to get used to the speed of the next level before you really excel.

Re: Proof that Tom Crean’s human: Audible frustration

His thirst to win was never in doubt. The NEWS here is that he actually believes we can win. I thought WIlliams and Jones were more physical than in any game this year. Pritchard cannot be more physical w/o fouling out.

We have gone from doormat to competitive in a matter of weeks and I am proud of these guys, coach on down.........all of them
