Inside the Hall: Notes from Saturday’s Elite Camp

*Glad to see TJ Bell attended....
*Not sure what we have to do to get kids out of the Gary region area....at least they jilted PU also...
*I am leading the badnwagon for Crean to sign KI ONLY! then J.Davis and Zeller for 2011......that 2011 class could be awesome.
*The 2012 class is so so loaded, any combination of kids between patterson, DSR, Hollowell, Bell and I would be happy.....My early thoughts are we get 3 (Bell, DSR, and Patterson or Hollowell)
    * I think J.Davis is wating to see what KI does, but I think he commits either way.

honestly, I wasn't really bothered by the scholly numbers...until this article made me realize how many lures we have in the water and how limited we are with actual availability. I can't possibly see how we can be going after so many kids. Now, don't get me wrong; we need to be out there, selling IU, getting in with the top kids (both in and out of state) for the 2010 and 2011 classes, but at some point, won't the numbers hurt us in reaching certain kids? It won't be too hard for other coaches to spell it out to some of them & I just don't see how we get out of this without a few bruised egos & broken promises in the least...

aerialM....you raise some good points, I think it is a risk reward thing that I am sure many coaches do also....Ex.if Irving says no, we can't go running to J.Davis or whomever so we have to pursue both. These kids know the #'s so like Etherington he pulled the trigger early. The other important point is, IU is doing a lot of seed planting with H.S.programs....no we may not get some of these kids but there will be others at their schools and it helps that their coaching staffs get to know IU. Similar to what IU has established at North Central here in Indy.....

I like the Davis news, it would be great to have him.

The list of players at the Marquette camp is very impressive. I wonder how it compares with the list of Purdue attendees. I was hoping Dawson would want to be a Hoosier.

I agree with Kelin in that its hard for me to figure out why kids from the Region shy away from IU. We need to get Dakich on the case.

I don't know how we're doing with DSR. He could take unofficial visits just about any weekend, but chose to do so when IU was holding camp. It may not mean anything, but to me its not a good sign.

Dave....out of all the 2012 kids I think we are in the best shape with DSR. The north central IU link helps. It could be a situation where he wanted to get those unofficials out of the way early.I fully expect him to be in bloomington on midnight madness.....

I hope you are right and I have no firm reason to think otherwise. Its just hard to read the tea leaves sometimes. There's a long way to go with the 2011 and 2012 crowd. I'd love to land Dawson because of his reputation of being physical and tough. DSR fits that profile too.

I love the job that this staff is doing. I completely agree that they are surely planting that seed with coaches, younger players, and anyone involved in basketball. We may not land all of these players, but choosing from the best means your getting great players year in and year out.

Kelin I'm jumping on the bandwagon of only KI, and then saving some for 2011. I'd like J.Davis, and if we can't get Zeller then maybe one of the other bigs (mayble Plumlee?).

FYI, I am working on an additional report with some scouting type information from the camp that I received. Not sure exactly when it will run, but it could be later today or tomorrow.

You guys are missing out on reporting on another great kid that was there yesterday (and at the earlier camp this summer)....but I'll let you find out about him yourself.

Depending on who you listen too, but even the internet chatter is NOT very high anymore on Teague to IU. Either IU laid off some or began to read the L'ville writing on the wall with Teague. I am not sure if there is even a fall visit set up......

I do believe Crean has made up some ground on 2011 and 2012 with PU. Painter had a running start but that has been erased....with the exception of the 'region' kids. Dakich and Nover need to hold a party up there or something.....
