Inside the Hall: More on Pritchard commitment and Tuesday links

  • Tim · 2 years ago
IU has six scholarships before Gordon goes pro, seven if he does.

Shaw transferred-scholarship to DeAndre Thomas (0)
Keeling transferred-scholarship to Adam Ahlfeld (0)
Allen transferred-scholarship to Kyle Taber (0)
D.J. White, Mike White, Ratliff, Stemler and Ahlfeld graduate (5)
Kyle Taber goes back to walk-on status (6)
*Gordon goes to the NBA (6 or 7*)

Ebanks, Mackey, Roth, and Pritchard commit (2 or 3*)

So the big questions are: does Gordon go to the NBA (likely), does D.J. come back for his redshirt year (unlikely), does Taber someway earn to keep his scholarship (unlikely). So we probably still have 3 scholarships available, but its some uncertain and tricky math.

Ok I am going to sell Big TP to you and me...the one thing I think has happened in the age of the AAU circuit, youtube, and 4,5 star prospects is the recruitment of good players that fit your team. Yes there are no Youtube video's on TP but if it wasn't for one video on Matt Roth we could be having the same conversation.....

Here is a list of what may be deemed 5 star youtubers IU has had...Bracey Wright, Marshal Strickland, Rod Wilmont, Charlie Miller, and Andre Patterson

Here is a list of 3star non youtubers that fit a team that is building.....Tom Coverdale, Todd Leary, AJ Moye, Randy Whitman, Steve Eyl (the greatest screener in IU history)and my ALL TIME non IU non Youtuber favorite...Lee Humphrey... So TP welcome to IU nation.

    Kelin,

I agree somewhat with what you are saying, but Rod Wilmont was by no means a highly touted recruit.
  • Tyler · 2 years ago
He was like a 2 or 3 star recruit wasn't he?
  • kelin · 2 years ago
I think Rod was one of the BEST scorers in the country when he left h.s. and one of the BEST athletes as well. At IU he became a three point shooter, but I remember Rod being a scoring machine out of Georgia I believe.

    He's from Louisiana.

By the way, does anyone know where I can get a 'Got Gordon?' t-shirt?
  • IU Jimmy · 2 years ago
Tyler, I got mine at Greetings (on Kirkwood) in Bloomington.

Rod graduated from a Florida High School. He was only a 3 star recruit according to Scout. I don't know what his Rivals rank was, but I doubt that he was a 5 star.

Thanks for the story ITH, great stuff this morning for sure.............

On the Hood front, he was recently offered by Pearl at UT and Cincy with Billy Clyde offering him a scholly over the phone to his father, Hood didnt take that as an offer though, saying it should be either over the phone with ME or in person and is sending Billy Clyde to see him friday with a more formal offer. Then Florida is coming up to see him play........What I am getting at is it is nice to see the staff still on this young man, they have been for awhile just no news of it I guess, thanks again........

Yeah, Rod is from Florida, although a great scorer in HS for some reason he wasnt highly thought of or recruited, what a GEM we got, cant measure HEART that is for sure, wish we had him one more year, I remember KS saying the same thing too.....

As for Pritchard I feel he helps with Tyler Zeller, it will now allow TZ to run and run and run and not have to worry about subbing to do the dirty work down low, although he can do it I think his game is a sprint down the court and beat his man that way. I feel with him, EH and Devin Ebanks the 09 team is shaping up to be just as good if not better than 07 and that is scary for sure....

I would like to thank all on this site, posters too, great perspectives from ALL angles, thanks again.........

This site is the BEST site for info and posters I have seen or been on. The only problem with this site is Bruce Weber doesn't come on here at all, I would love to get his thoughts about recruiting..or NOT recruiting

FYI...as you can see I love prodding brucey weber and he can thank his actions last season for that. I am working on road trip to Illinois this year so I can see EJ, DJ, and the chicago recruits give an Illini A$$ whuppin' in person.

.........Matt Painter is running a close second because of this statement "If Gordon had called me I would NOT have recruited him"
  • Chris · 2 years ago
Rod was from Miramar Florida and averaged nearly 30 points per game in high school.
  • Newt · 2 years ago
Pritchard will embrace the Indiana tradition and be a good four year player. He could be the next Brian Cardinal-he makes a great living now. I love players that want to put on the IU jersey. I hope I can compare him to Matt Nover at the end of his tenure.

Wilmont is from Florida and was a 3 star recruit. Also, AJ Moye was in the Top 50 recruits for 2000.
