I think he has more than enough experience, but, in the eperience he has he hasn't done anythign outstanding. His coaching record doesn't stand out as saying "hey big time program pick me" It says " hey I'll shuffle aorund in the mid majors as a head coach for 30 years"

I agree with IU beats UNC we should give Dakich the job and post IU's Banner in assembly hall.....OH wait...that is just a 2nd round victory...do we celebrate those or is that for Purdue to do????

I love Mike and Mike, but they get emotionally caught up sometimes and this is another case of that.....I cannot see a scenario that Dakich gets the job and the only way he should be CONSIDERED is a FINAL 4 APPEARANCE.....key word CONSIDERED.

Dakich also was on the Waddle and Silvy show today on espnradio1000.

The podcast can be found on their website, they also interview Steve Alford.

It's not terrible of an interview, you get some pretty good insight on how Double D is feeling it.

Dakich = NOT!!!

Mike and Mike are DJs whose job is to talk and say outrageous things to make people listen.

Dakich is a good guy but is not a good enough coach to take IU back to being one of the very best.

Hire a coach who has been a proven winner where ever he has coached and the likely hood is that he will make IU a winner again.

I love Mike & Mike as much as the next guy but let's be honest...I don't believe I saw either of their names on the comittee and to be honest, I'm not sure some of those names on the comittee know who Mike & Mike are. I think we're safe....for now...

Don't get me wrong. Dakich is a great guy, but he just doesn't have the experience that an IU coach needs. Granted the Minnesota game was kinda iffy, the Penn State game should never have been put down as a loss for the Hoosiers.

If Mike & Mike wanna say hey, just cuz he came on our show he should stay as the coach, that's fine with me. But until we see some real results (tourney time could be it) then I think the search for another coach should continue.

Big A...not to be too nit-picky, but wasn't the "magical tournament run" in 2002...after Mike Davis' had already been hired full-time and his second year as head coach (if you count the "interim" year)?

Well, Dakich and McCallum both just signed "revised contracts', which IU will pay them through next season, and, even if DD doesn't get the job, he'll still work for the athletic department, as an article in the IDS said today -

"...If Dakich is not retained on the coaching staff, or as the director of basketball operations, he will continue to be employed by the athletic department through June 30, 2009, in a non-sales administrative employment position reporting to Director of Athletics Rick Greenspan..."

Personally, I think Danny Boy would have to make a pretty impressive run in the Big Dance for him to be a consideration for leading contender for the head coach position....(more than just a win against UNC)

If the hoosiers beat UNC dan should be considered...but thats it, now if they go on some freakish run to the final four and maybe even a national championship then he should be the leading canidate. Having said that, IU will narrowly escape out of the first round and get beat by at least 10 in the second. Go after PEARL!!!

I enjoy the show a lot except when they talk about baseball, which is almost every day and there's no reason for it. There's no reason why Jayson Stark, Peter Gammons and Buster Olney should have a weekly slot on that shot. That's overkill. Especially considering that, I believe, the majority of American sports fans would slot baseball somewhere between 3rd and 5th on the list of sports they enjoy the most.

Whoops....What I meant to say was, Greeny and Golic are more entertainers and less journalists. Granted, I find them entertaining.

Too bad DAn Patrick isn't around anymore, he gave some of the best radio interviews, like the one he did with David Stern during the Suns=Spurs playoff series...that was awesome.

i haven't listened or watched these guys in a while and now i remember why. they get stale after a while and they rarely disagree with special guests, even if only after the interview, and they never as the difficult questions.

if they say that they would endorse dd for the permanent position, they obviously haven't watched any part of the last six games.

Round of applause PAT!! You finally listened. Your point on the otherhand is rediculous. Im an avid listener to the guys and love pretty much everything BUT their baseball coverage. Mainly because Im not a huge Jayson Stark or Peter Gammons guy and they have those two on ALL the time..

Heard it this morning as well. Wasn't that great of an interview and to be honest I could care less about DD being the next IU coach. I highly doubt the position will be his. His interview with the 1070Fan crew yesterday was better. He seems the type to be an Assistant Coach if anything.

I think these guys need to stick with doing what they do best.. talking about baseball all-year round, regardless of their listeners' interests.
