Inside the Hall: Kevin Jones to West Virginia; LOI’s arrive

  • kelin · 2 years ago
West VA.....good luck to him. I hope he has a great career. Given he will never be on tv, it would be the same at IU since I still don't have the BTN..

    Sincerely, Still Pissed

I wonder what or who IU will pursue now if anyone, or will they go the juco route.

Good luck Kevin! It's a pretty good bet that Mike White will probably be redshirted now.

from what i've read (sorry i've lost where it was, i'm lazy) he wants to be a sf, not a pf. we need a big body, but if he wants to be a tweener type of guy, he may not have fit in. who do you want at sf, ebanks or jones? i'll take ebanks. too bad though, he would have been great here. good luck to him.

i would like another big guy. maybe we can pick one up in the spring period. regardless, this is a great class. can't wait to have ebanks signed. and i can't wait to see him in candy stripes.

I think the juco route will be explored, but it'll have to make sense. Otherwise, hello 2009.

Is anyone else concerned that Ebanks did not sign today? Expected to sign later in the week says to me, "I am not 100% sure I am going to Indiana"
  • Big A · 2 years ago
Pretty sure I read that Ebanks will sign later this week. I wouldn't worry about him not coming to IU, his commitment is solid.
  • MLove · 2 years ago
Nope there are logistical reasons for him not signing today... They have said that all along. He maybe out of town or his rents were something along those lines. No Worries. I am having a lot of trouble with this MIKE WHITE scenario... Why would we redshirt a 6'3 Power Forward. Cant we go into the JUCO next yr and get someone bigger, cant we think we will get something in the 09 class. We lost a scholly already why not have MW's spot available. CONFUSED MAKES NO SENSE, but hey i am not going to doubt my BOY Kelvin. He has brought in another SOLID recruiting class dont get so caught up in the Fact that it doesnt have crazy names in it. He finds pieces to the puzzle cant always have ONE and Done guys what would you be left with??

    DO WORK

Welcome! Terrell, Matt, and Tom are now officially Hoosiers! Devin will be welcomed in the coming days!

Good luck to Kevin at West Virginia, though that has to be one of the most business-like recruiting decision processes I've ever seen. But whatever works for you.

I'm also perplexed with this redshirt Mike White talk. If he does redshirt than our 08 class is already at its limit. Right now there are five seniors DJ, Mike, Lance, AJ, and Ahfeld, plus EJ likely leaving brings the available up to six, minus the one because of phone calls and there are five, minus another if Mike redshirts and there are four. Lo and behold we already have a four-man recruiting class. I think we should just let Mike White move on after this year and go back to the recruiting pool or juco ranks to try and turn up a big body.

you forgot taber. theres one more spot.
  • kelin · 2 years ago
What I have heard and read about Mike White is they really think he can improve on his game and has gotten better in the post just wouldn't fit this year. Maybe there is more to the MAN mike what than we have seen.

Dont Care a 6'3 PF aint flyin with me. HE CANT Shoot so him being on the outside does nothign for us, and doesnt free up the paint. Love his toughness bring him off the bench this year and let him do some work on the class for abt 8 min a game.
  • Jim K · 2 years ago
Hoosier Hound, you didn't note we are one light for this year with only 12 schloarships. Therefore if Mike White redshirts, we still have one available next year assuming DJ does not apply for a 5th year and Gordon goes pro.
  • Hoosier Hound · 2 years ago
nealE, Taber is a Junior. But Jim K is right, I lost track with all the transfers over the summer. Keeling's scholarship went to Thomas, Shaw's went to Ahfeld, but that leaves Allen's still open. So there is one more spot even if Mike White redshirts. Good call Jim. In that case, if IU can somehow get a big body that can be at least serviceable next season, I'd accept another year from Mike. But next year's team is going to need another big.

Anyway, we still have THIS year. Yay.

    Mike White is not 6'3, he's 6'6.
  • MLove · 2 years ago
He is 6'6 like Erik Suhr was 5'11
  • MLove · 2 years ago
    sorry errek
  • Big A · 2 years ago
If Mike White is 6'6", ITH gets more traffic than ESPN.com. But hey, if the Media guide says so, it must be true, right?

Mike White's actually 6'10", and I'm 7'4". And we get more hits than the Drudge Report and IUHoosiers.com ... combined.

i thought that jones was a solid student, which i suppose he still could be...it just seems hard to fathom anyone who is good with the books would want to play for huggins. i'm excited about the rest of the recruits, so jones deciding to go elsewhere is fine with me. i really thought that ebanks would bring along another east-coaster though. i know that he has been working on stephenson and some others from the 09 class, so life is still looking positive in bloomington.
  • kelin · 2 years ago
I just read stephenson really likes IU, USC, and I forgot the other school, mayb UCLA. He is also talking about winning an NCAA title, however long it takes him....Mike White may be 6'4..6'4.5 at the most.....

    ebanks just signed wooooo
