Inside the Hall: Kelvin Sampson: remember when?

Why is this even necessary? You guys are blatantly piling on now. I'm starting to wonder if this blog is run by illinois fans.

I'm sorry but I agree with Timmy on this one. With as much rumors leaking out of IU you would think some of this proof would have leaked by now. A taped phone call or a student athlete coming forward. Just something concrete for a change.

Don't get me wrong.. I'm hurt too, but maybe.. just maybe this coach of ours and he still is our coach is a good guy and to the best of his knowledge is being honest and was truly trying to keep the rules.

I hope IU doesn't cave to the pressure of the media and angry fans who quite possibly are upset for other reasons not related to phone calls that may or may not have happened.

Maybe I'm just too nice of a guy to imagine a coach so careless he would intentionally break the rules. If I am of f base and Big A can show us some proof, then by all means carry on. I just do not believe that he lied to the NCAA ...yet and I would not be shocked if in the end Samson is gone and we as fans never see any real proof that he knowingly violated the rules.

Can't we assume that if IU had solid evidence they would have dismissed him by now? or that the NCAA could have provide IU with some evidence of this lying and they could fire him based off of that?

i'd call phone records pretty solid evidence that he violated the rules. tell me, why after a full investigation would IU turn over a report to the NCAA if they weren't positive that Sampson did something wrong? you think they wanted to grab some negative headlines?

the only reason they haven't fired Sampson yet is because they want to make sure there are no loopholes in his contract which would allow him to sue after the fact.

how dare we pile on a coach that "returned our program to relevance"? shame on you Big A!

    I agree.

They just need to go ahead and fire him already. I can't believe that this is what the program has come to.
