Funny, nothing would surprise me with this guy. But eventually he has to get to step 4 where he takes "total responsibility" for the mistakes and he demonstrates his contrition by boldly proclaiming the desire to do some kind of cleansing service to the community - remember when Mel Gibson was going to do all kinds of work with the Jewish community, and now Sharon Stone wants to help with Chinese earth quake relief efforts, or Marion Jones...etc. etc....it will be interesting to see if KS ever makes it to that phase.....he could pull a Floyd Landis, Roger Clemens, or a Barry Bonds and get stuck in stage 2 indefinitely...although eventually they almost always get to stage 4.

For some weird reason ITH is compelling me to track IU basketball dates on my calander as if I have an obsessive compulsive disorder for which I need counseling. My new calander:

June 10 => Crawford returns
June 10 => Negedu visits UT
June 12 => Negedu visits Memphis
June 13 => NCAA hearings
June ? => Negedu announces
August ? => Official NCAA results

Anybody know when the new team can and will first meet each other ?

Basically this is our best defense and its most likely true. The compliance process relies on KS and staff logging their home and cell calls and turning in the logs. This process is defeated if you willfully lie.............ie "no accident"

By discovering the violations, reporting to NCAA, self penalizing , and gutting our program the NCAA should commend us for settign an example and not penalize us

What is likelihood there is any new info that will be public after next week's hearing ?

There's also the "counter-sue" option for "defamation of character", but in light of certain star athletes falling from grace, I can see why that was left off the list (unless it's a 3a and 3b).

Hey guys, I just heard from a friend of mine that Negudu said his IU trip "went great", and that crean told him that we are giong to be diferent from the rest of the big ten because we are going run up tempo. I think thats good news.

There are 4 steps in scandal management in my book
1. Lie
2. Deny
3. Make counter-allegations
4. Demand proof

Sampson has done 1 and 2. He's recently started #3 and I'm sure is well on his way to Step 4.

You nailed it. However, I wouldn't be surprised if he blamed his son for answering the phone, and plead ignorance.

As I posted elsewhere, Sampson will take a page from the celebrity scandal management playbook, and continue with what I will affectionately call the "Sampson Shuffle"...ready to learn the steps in the dance? Here we go:

Step 1: Repeatedly deny charges, self-righteously proclaim innocence, and passionately emphasize that you can't wait to have the opportunity to defend yourself and have all the facts come out. But don't say anything too specific that could get you further into deep doodoo.
Step 2: Keep doing this till things cool down.
Step 3: Slowly, incrementally start to hedge on the key points around which you previously claimed innocence...conveniently ignore new incriminating facts that emerge - stay silent.
Step 4: When the truth comes out and you are clearly busted come out publicly and admit the wrong doing with a tearful confession and a pledge to do community service in the future to help others avoid making the same mistake. Or just issue a contrite press release.

That's where Sampson's headed....to continue the Sampson shuffle. It may be even more entertaining than the chicken dance....
