Voting now open for Indiana student section
Has the NCAA ever looked at one of his programs? Has he ever been openly accused of cheating? Or is it just a way for those who are jealous of his success to explain why he is better than they are?
When Herb Sendek left for Arizona State (read: when he was run out of town), NC State talked to Calipari at least twice. He even flew into Raleigh, met with the AD, and then flew back to Memphis. Local ACC moron David Glenn was on the phone telling everyone that would listen that Calipari was signed, sealed and delivered, and an announcement was forthcoming.
Well, Calipari's plane set down, and he went to the AD and said "Look, here's what NC State is going to offer." And then he was given a raise and now the Wolfpack have Sidney Lowe.
Don't forget, the coaching search at NC State went on during the same cycle as Indiana's last search, and Calipari was telling various media outlets that Indiana was interested in him, all the while Greenspan was saying "We haven't even called him."
If IU were to talk to him, I would fully expect to see another situation like NC State's. Calipari has it good in Memphis, but he's not above using other coaching vacancies to give himself more cash in his pocket.
