i'm pleased to hear this. i think with an additional year of practicing with this year's team, mike white will provide much more solid play next year. i hope it benefits him well.

good luck mike, and we'll see you next year!

With the 3 scholarships in '09-'10, is IU focusing on Dexter Strickland and Lance Stephenson? I know it's a dream, but could you imagine an IU team with EJ, Ebanks, Strickland & Stephenson?

txiu, that isn't even a dream. that's 3 generations of iu teams right there, if we get strickland or stephenson. a dream would be 2 generations overlapping. that right there, my friend, would be heaven. and i'm not ready for the world to end.

I am alittle curious as to what advantage there is to not play with all the available scholarships. Would somebody help clear this up. Why not give a one year scholarhip to one of the non-scholarship players on the roster? I am assuming that a less-talented/less-recruited player is not offered a (four-year) scholarship so that in future years there are more available to recruit more desirable players. I are any of my assumptions on track? Could someboby answer these recruiting and scholarship questions.

I apologize if I sound pessimistic, but that empty scholarship may not exist when the NCAA sanctions are passed down. It might be prudent to keep one open until the punishment arrives from on high. Given the 'repeat offender' label placed on Sampson, there will likely be some form of (hopefully merciful!) disciplinary action, and if the worst of that is the loss of another scholarship, I'll take it. We'll then have plenty of scholarship room open for the next year, which is stacked with talent. I'm not sure about Strickland's interest, but Lance and Nolan Dennis are very much in reach. Next year might be a dropoff, but keep your fingers crossed - cause two yeard from now, there's amazing potential.

Abraham has a good point. We should all probably remember that IU is far from in the clear on that stuff.

Not to crush anyone's optimism regarding Dexter Strickland, but it is highly unlikely that he will attend Indiana. Florida, Michigan State and North Carolina are the three schools I believe he'll choose from.

Barring any further action from the NCAA, I actually think Sampson will get another JC big guy in the spring with the last scholarship.

isn't anyone else going to miss his enormous shorts? I mean, they are the source of his power. I was looking forward to seeing whose shorts were bigger, D's or Mike's. I guess I'll have to wait until next year.

anyone have AJ Moye's contact info? would love for him to give helpful advice/pointers to mike white in regards to making the most use of his talent given his height limitations... just seems like AJ could help A LOT...
