Is this it for him? What a way to go out if so. We have had a great two game run and maore to come I think. The games are not that tough other then Michigan State on the road. I still hope he stays till the end of the year.

If IU doesn't beat Purdue I think KS should be fired on the Post Game show by Fish and Leary personally

Player to watch: Deandre Thomas and you ready for this people? You will see Brandon McGhee tonite. It is an ideal game for him to play in given the matchups and he is playing against other frosh.......

great article exactly tells how all of us hoosier fans feel right now but i really do think they should let him coach the rest of the year and see everything in june goes before they rush to a decision about what they should do but if you dont beat purdue kelvin i will be very very very pissed off

All I really care about tonight is beating Purdue into oblivion...that said...

1.) I'm predicting a 7 point IU victory 71-64...A 94-50 smack down would be cool, but my dreams don't have a habit of coming true.
2.) Sampson is our coach...at least for tonight. I'm just going to leave it at that for this game.
3.) Finally...I love Indiana Basketball...as an IU fan I'm going to support whatever decision is made. I'll probably bitch and moan like most of us tend to do, regardless of the outcome, but in the end. I just love my Hoosiers. No other sports team can make me feel the range of emotions that I feel...and I'll defend the Hoosiers till the day I die. As fans and as a university, we will get through this...but yes, let's beat Purdue...

Well put.

Not sure about the asswipes but I still like it. Here we are already naming names and no name has been better than KS. All the good ones are either taken or will not want to deal with our "supposed sanctions". I'm sure though that IU will give us what we want. Just like he gave you KS.

Funny, I wonder if IU has negotiated with Myles Brand to lessen the blow if we fire KS. If not, then why even consider the point. I think IU needs to hold its cards on this one a little long? I really have a hard time believing that we still won't get slapped either way?

Conventional wisdom would suggest the sooner, the better, as far as the NCAA is concerned. Holding on when you know he's wrong makes you look even more shady. The NCAA is waay too arrogant to negotiate anything. Also, don't forget who runs the NCAA. I can't see him doing us any favors either.

I don't care that the majority of you seem to support the idea of firing Coach Sampson and hiring a interim coach. I have yet to hear that any single phone call gave IU an advantage and secured a LOI. Coach Sampson and Bill Belichick both lost 500k for their supposed infractions. Belichick lost a first round draft choice and Coach Sampson lost a scholarship. Belichick was voted Coach of the Ywar. Coach Sampson and qaall his assistant coaches and their wives abd children will swoon be unemployed. My further understanding is Coach Samps0n will not get a chance to explain or meet his accusers. I disagree and you're an asswipe if you don't agree with me LMAO

Here are a few nuggets from the folks at Pregame.com on tonight's game.

Purdue has won 5 straight conference road games for the first time since the 1995-96 season. The Boilermakers have never won 6 straight conference road games.

The Hoosiers have posted an impressive 32-1 record when scoring 70 points or more under head coach Kelvin Sampson. Indiana may have trouble reaching that number, as Purdue is allowing just 60.5 points per game on the season.

Purdue is 11-1 ATS in its last 12 games overall.
Purdue is 13-3 ATS in its last 16 road games.
Purdue is 22-6 ATS in its last 28 games vs. Big Ten.
Purdue is 2-6 ATS in the last 8 meetings in Indiana.

From what I can tell a FAX is not a call unless it is prearranged then its a call

Is a call to tell someone to turn on the fax machine considered prearranging a call ? A random email is not a call unless prearranged

From what I read about the rules it seems very very difficult to be squeaky clean when it comes to calls ..........unless..........you stick to the pure vanilla idea that a "call" is voice only between 2 people

Other areas of potential recruiting violations are clearer like, VISITS, COMPENSATION, CONTESTS, GRADES, CONTACTS, EVALUATIONS, MATERIALS USED etc

DO you realize you have violated a rule if you use Powerpoint to present to the recruit ?

I think we have all underestimated the challenge KS had to remain strictly inside all rules

1. MSU grad
2. Jail time for marijuana was a plea deal because the most serious charge was cocaine
3. Failed probabtion
4. More jail time for DUI while on probation
5. fired as coach for losing, KS has NEVER been fired for losing

Are we running a drug rehab or a B-ball program ? He cannot be the face of the program after this. Dickie V wil have to trash us for 60 minutes in a 40 min game

Jerry, I totally agree. I have yet to see one mention on this site as to what the rules are from the NCAA on phone calls made to recruits. How many, what time of day, what coaches, etc...but I have seen many comments though on how we hold higher standards for others than ourselves better yet quick to judge.

KS may have issues and may have knowingly "cheated " if so, then let him go and let's start looking for a coach today. I have a bigger beef, if he is guilty then he should have already left the day of the NCAA's ruling. But since he didn't then maybe he does know the truth. Maybe he made an honest mistake. But NONE of us know what KS did, or did not do, we just know what the NCAA claims. As mentioned by Jerry, these are "potential violations". It is possilbe that he thought he was in accordance wiht the NCAA rules.

Another thing, did anyone pay attention to the fact that the ruling did not come down from Miles Brand but the VP of the NCAA. This is a huge concern, if the NCAA really thinks KS is guilty as charged, then they can't have any mercy on IU. Maybe either we are going to get hammered anyway due to the fact that it might show favoritism by M Brand.

Many of us didn't like the choice of KS when he was hired but embraced him once he succeeded as our coach. Now that we have decided for him to go... we are ready for him to be fired but PLEASE beat Purdue before you go.....just don't seem right.

Lastly, I believe KS should have made damn sure that he didn't make the same mistake twice when he came to IU...and maybe he still thinks he didn't.

Did you ever read Damon Bailey's autobiography? Skiles is not liked among the basketball alumni. This seriously might cause Kent Benson to flip out and kill people, ninja-style.

Perhaps Skiles could hire Luke Recker and Lawrence Funderburke as assistant coaches.
