Inside the Hall: Hoosiers add a preferred walk-on: Broderick Lewis

  • HoosierSmitty · 1 year ago
I live in Lafayette and teach & coach in that school corp, so I've seen Lewis play plenty. He's a pretty gifted athlete and solid player. He had to play center in a three-point shot oriented offense. He probably won't be more than a practice player, but if the Hoosiers ever need minutes this upcoming season, he'll be able to jump on the court and give them solid play. I wish him the best and hope to see him have success at IU.

Maybe with the right coaching he can be better than a practice player. Any size at this point is helpful...

You have to give Walk Ons a great deal of credit. They will work just as hard as the stars in addition to paying their own costs. Sometimes one will be elevated but that is not the norm.

While the Scholarship Players are the flashy parts that everyone admired the Walk On is the part that no one sees but help keeps the team functioning. They work week after week with nothing more that the love of playing and hope.

Looks like a nice catch, certainly can use that 6 1/2 foot wingspan!

Big A, is there any possibilty of adding another "section" along the right hand side of this page, where there could be a list of all the players that will be coming this fall, and not just the scholarship players?

Sorry to ask but what is a "preferred walkon" ? Do walkons count in the academic stats ?

I think it's a guy who is invited to walk onto the team, as opposed to a regular student who decides to try out for the team.

Kind of like Joe Montana's kid at ND, as opposed to the legions of regular undergrads who try to walk on to the football squad every year.

I heard that Manhattan player Rashard Green, brother of UNC Danny Green, is transfering and IU is on his list...Anyone hear this?

    Another 6'4'' Guard... http://www.gojaspers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID...

Given the mess that surrounds Danny Green and his parents...might want to avoid him.

he averaged 9pts in highschool? Lets hope he doesn't play.

According to HoosierSmitty, he was playing center in a 3 point offense. That could be one reason why he was not scoring a lot.

I think this walk on is ok but is he an Indiana All Star???

    Sincerely,
    Daniel Moore

When I get a second I may sit down and look at our roster.............
    glad about KS being gone...
glad about the knuckle heads being gone.....
glad about our phone call issues being gone.....
    glad coach crean is here..............
glad he pulled off a good recruiting class this year and next.....

ummm two post players....Taber and Pritchard....I am happy they are here but the big man drills during practice won't last very long....

maybe your boy Daniel Moore can play center, that way he can at least sniff the cort fir some pt

This is my concern too. I know Crean must have a plan here...while he has always favored a fast-paced, guard heavy approach, he must know he has some good low-post guys due to commit soon. I can't believe his plan for going into the Big Ten is to play a bunch of young guards with a former walk-on in the post.
