Anyone else impressed with Jamarcus Ellis? He played a really good game. Everyone knows about EJ and DJ, but Ellis really impressed me. He is an amazing all-around player. He can penitrate, score, rebound, and pass. He just needs to get a little tougher on D, but the teams needs to get better as a whole. We should try a zone and see what happens.

Also the offense as a whole was really sloppy. Why is there no movement? Every now and then, someone would set a pick, but that was about the extent of it. I don't know if anyone stayed up and watched the beat down that took place at Cameron Indoor Stadium, but maybe Sampson should show some tape of Duke's offense. They constantly move, set screens, and play really unselfish. I HATE Duke, but they looked really good. They beat one of our main competitors (wisconsin) by like 30... We have a long way to go.

The announcers were pretty bad. And, like mentioned above, even made some comment (which bordered on idiocy) that if Eric Gordon were playing for GT then GT would have won. Really? Wow, that’s deep. It just shows how the quality of announcers in sports has severely dropped. Either way, I can stand out poor announcing from time to time.

What I can’t stand is how flat IU has been coming out of the gates. It felt like a Mike Davis squad, everyone standing around, waiting for someone else to make a play. It was nice to see them get DJ White involved early and often, but should it really have taken 7 1/2 minutes to get Gordon his first points (no less on FTs)? If Gordon/White are going to be considered the top in/out duo in the B10 and a top 5 in the Nation, my opinion would be that those two need to play catch more often.

Finally, why does it take these guys so long to get to the other side of the floor? Teams will continue to push pace on us if we can’t make it to the other end.

We should have beaten this team by an easy 10 points.

Since I live a long way from Bloomington, this is the first game I've seen. I was disappointed.
There seems to be little cohesion on offense or notion of what they are trying to achieve. There's almost no off the ball movement and almost no attempt to help DJ White get open. There's no reason for White to ever wander more than 7 feet from the basket on offense. It looks like a pick-up game down at the gym--dribble dribble, pass, dribble dribble and shoot. White is a powerhouse on the blocks who hits over 65% of his free throws. If he gets the ball low, there's gonna be points. The offensive plan should at least include that concept, but instead it seems to revolve around getting at least one three point shot every possession.
Defense is hard to watch. There's no rotation and defensive rebounding is weak. IU's perimeter players are good enough to stop almost all penetration, but they don't, for whatever reason.
There's enough talent on this team to go far, once they start playing like a team. They seem to lack focus on offense, and on defense look plain lazy.

it's easy to be "biased" against the big ten when our conference teams are getting their asses handed to them year in and year out by the ACC. hey, how about the big ten actually wins one of these challenges instead of whining about ACC bias?

getting to the game, i've been really hard on stemler but he was huge tonight. i think he and mike white ended up being the difference (also jamarcus played very well). like i said before, if stemler can hit open shots, he makes a big difference for this offense.

David, I agree with those comments, it's the others that I posted in my previous post that get me irked. I don't believe anyone mentioned that specific example as a reason why espn is biased. To me it comes down to this simple fact. ESPN wants to bash the big ten network because it will take more money away from them. Imagine if the big ten is succesfull, then the ACC and Sec will want their own channel, and take more money away from them. It's simple economics. Do anything to kill the competition.

Sherron, the ESPN announcer mentioned that those coaches close to Sampson were in his corner and those not close to him were not in his corner, so to speak. I didn't view it as anything anti-Indiana or anti-Sampson. It is what it is. The statement also seemed to vibe with similar comments from CBS and SI.

I don't understand this supposed 'bias' ESPN has against the Big Ten. I think it's ridiculous. You can accuse ESPN of a lot of things, but bias against the Big Ten and IU? Come on.

And lets not forget about how the announcer at the beginning of the game talked s**t for a 5 good minutes about Sampson and how the "other coaches" around the country don't like him. I for one thought that was completely uncalled for, as uncalled for as the guys fugly jacket he was wearing

The bottom line is Dickie V and the rest of ESPN are being exposed as the CNN of the sports world that they are. They are biased and try to make people think how they want them too. In "ESPN world" the ACC is tops and Sean Taylor was the victim of a "robbery"(robbers don't break in and leave knives on your bed, thats called a threat) ESPN is and has been for the better part if the last 10 years, useless. Not to mention they stole a couple anchors from the ESPN. The American sports world needs an alternate because as of now they have a monopoly on sports in this country, as long as they are on top all the good recruits will keep going to NC and Puke. Screw ESPN, Go Big 10 network!

The only time they were positive was on EJ, other than that they kept talking up GT....it was very obvious. To say if EJ was on techs team they would have won is really stupid to even say as an announcer. HEll if longwood had DJ white they would have won....you can't really even make that statement.

L. Rubes. They simply said " if eric gordon was on Georgia Tech they would have won this game". They also said that they were not impressed with the way Indiana was playing. Finally I did not like how they kept saying that in order to stop jamarcus ellis you have to let them shoot the three and not let him drive. I didn't like it because they were not consistently bashing other players from GT's team. I think ESPN is starting a bias against the big ten because of the big ten network ( which I really really love). I think its a travesty because in the end, it should be about basketball, not a stupid prapaganda campaign.

Wow for tonights game I was behind the south goal in the student section and that was probably the best atmosphere I have ever been in.
On a different note I had a lot of friends complaining about ESPN's comments on air about IU and how they were extremely biased towards GT. Could someone explain?

anyone bashing mike white needs to take a deep breath and open their eyes. he played with great energy and grabbed some nice boards. he was all over the basket. he may not be tall, but he'll rip your face off if you get in between him and the ball. hes just a warrior. i love it.

Ugly game...many things need to change. GT was not close to being a good team.
