    Daniel Moore needs a scholarship.

Problem is, after this season, we have no scholarship to give.
  • LTTelamon · 11 months ago
Daniel Moore is not an offensive option. As such, as well as he may be able to pass, he's hurting us as much as he is helping on the floor. There were multiple possessions tonight where Moore passed the ball around the arc, only to receive it back wide open... and do nothing but pass back to the guy he just got it from. Look, I like Moore - he plays hard, he passes well, and he's a tenacious defender - but to say he's a scholarship player is to overstate his talents.

He might not be much of an option to score, but he's arguably the best ball handler on the team and hey, that's going to merit significant playing time. Once he gets a bit more acclimated to the college game, he might look to score a bit more in certain situations.

I agree he does deserve one. It's just too bad we won't have any room

I have to disagree on the scholarship for Daniel Moore. He seems like a very smart player with a nice handle and definitely more raw talent than Surh or some past walk-ons, but come on, it's been two games against bad competition.

He signed on to be a walk-on. He'll most likely play huge minutes this season and be very valuable, but next season everyone would be complaining that we wasted a scholarship when we didn't have too as Moore sits behind Jones, Hulls and Rivers.

Thanks for the addition of the new blog, since i dont get the BTN down here in alabama on comcast (thats another story).. i am glad to see we got the W, but what happened after the game with the celebration? i saw some discussion said they were thanking the fans.. i really like that !! i know its going to be a rough year but this team is doing everything possible for me to fall in love with them!! just hope we can keep stealing some wins from time to time...

Yeah it was pretty neat. After the game Crean grabbed the mic and thanked all of the fans for their support and enthusiasm. He then went to the cheering section and gave high-fives. The team followed him to the cheering section and gave thanks. It was definitely a surreal moment. However, I would say that our fans had a sub-par night to say the least. There were many times that the 20 iupui fans that showed up were louder than the Hoosier *faithful.

You mentioned the UK-UNC game. We should all watch Kentucky because their situation is similar to what IU will be dealing with next year. We'll have talent, we'll have athleticism, but we'll be really, really young and we'll struggle. Kentucky's 08-09 season will likely mirror IU's situation for the remainder of the decade.

Come on now, we knew this coming in. This is a YOUNG team. They are going to play poorly in stretches. As long as they have good stretches, it's going to be okay. Yes, UNC would kill them, name a team not in the Top Ten you don't expect UNC to kill?

The team played better tonight, better than Saturday night. Improvement every game. Pritchard actually looked much better. Matt Roth stepped up. Dumes struggled. Williams and Story were okay. Yes the defense failed miserably for a stretch in the 2nd half.

Overall it was a much better game. I didn't think they looked out of control or out of synch at all. They're learning... they can practice all they can, but game experience is what they will learn from.... that's Coach Crean's job... teach them from experience. Show them what they did/didn't do and teach them the skills and mentality to do better.

Don't look for a miracle or you'll be disappointed.... look for the improvement game to game... that's the important part.

As for the Kentucky post, I don't believe that. I believe Crean is the difference.

Come on Hoosiers, the boys won.... give'em a break!!

GO HOOSIERS! YOU'RE DOING GREAT! WE'RE PROUD OF YOU!

When Crean and the team came over to the student section, I got a very sweaty hug/chest bump from Dumes. It was an experience. Cool but... not pleasant haha. I swear that kid looked like he just came from the shower. Ridiculous

You forgot a name under the BAD and UGLY columns...JOBE

That poor kid looked like he was on the streets of Paris without Tom-Tom Go last night! I hope he can learn how to get position before the Big10 season starts. He would be a great asset to plug in the middle of that 2-3 zone...I think the 2nd foul called on him was complete BS, but that's what happens when the refs know you are clueless. Bring back Blab to show this kid some skills...PLEASE!!!!

Pritchard actually had a double double 19 points and 10 boards.

A win's a win, we'll take it. There are a lot of teams better than IU this year that will lose to worse teams than IUPUI in pre-conference play, so there is no such thing as a bad win at this stage of the season. Two positives I see from the box score - we out rebounded them, and we improved our free throw shooting %.
  • BGleas · 11 months ago
I agree with your point that we should be happy with this win, considering Kentucky lost to VMI at home and Utah lost to SW Baptist State.

There are a lot of teams that are considered more talented than IU that will lose to teams like IUPUI and maybe worse. We'll take it where we can get it!

We certainly won't be complaining over ANY kind of win
