    I am anxious to see today if we are ready for the B-10 tournament . To me this means locking down on Battle and Corn;ey and 4 guys in double figures with Gordon dishing for a change, low to's.

    We have to win today to get a two seed either playing maybe Iowa/Illinois? A three seed would have us playing Minn/Northwestern, Which I like better. Regardless we might get to play Purdue twice.

    Can we talk about maybe who the next coach would be and when after the game thread. BigA I know you had the voting and I like the turn out but I truly think that no one will decide until the NCAA rules a decision in June. That can not be in our favor to get someone that late, in my opinion. That's almost four months after the season before we get maybe even started to pursue a coach. I know anyone could jump up and say "pick me" but I really think everyone wants to wait and see the ruling. YOUR THOUGHTS?

    We can and will get a new coach after the NCAA. Matta went to OSU knowing he would not be in the NCAA and had a great recruiting class. Other thoughts:

    1. we need a coach ASAP to recruit for 09 which happens in August
    2. we self penalized already and terminated the NCAA's new whipping boy now that Tark the shark is no longer around
    3. we are selling the IU program not one year
    4. KS may actually have a case
    5. next coach cannot wait until August to know where he is
    6. if sanctions then its a pressure reliever , rebuilding year for the coach, new coach may want the grace period
    7. IU officials cannot stand up to criticism if they wait

    The bigger questions are: a) "can IU put a package together to get the coach we want and need ? and b) are we aiming to be a regional-based program ie Xavier ,or a national program ie Kansas,Duke ? This will determine the coach more than the NCAA

    While we are on this topic and waiting for the game I wonder how folks think IU should build going forward w ANY coach. For thought starters I offer :

    1. Establish mission as a national program ala DUke, UCONN etc
    2. Clear success measures and milestones eg NCAA 99% of years, Sweet 16 50% etc
    3. Recruit in the top 100 w 2 top 50's every year, never losing a top 4 Indiana kid
    4. HIgh grad rates
    5. Type of game national TV wants to watch
    6. best fans in the country

    The decision might not come till August. By then we lose our recruiting class and take a hit for next year. They need to find one as soon as the season is over. Theres no point in waiting to see if we get sanctions before we pick one. Thats one reason why I think we will go with a younger coach. The sanctions won't bother them as much as an established coach. Hopefully they don't hire a head hunting firm and attack this as soon as tournament is over.

    Unrelated, but it just took the BTN 2:30 of game time to get the score graphic up in the OSU/MSU game. I came in a little late and was ready to scream at the TV because I couldn't see what the score was for a few minutes. I love being able to watch all these games out east, but the production level flat out sucks.

    God I hope so, I mean I love the way Ellis played b4 KS was fired, but he seems to be playing a little THUGISH, oops I mean SLUGISH of late, like he is in a dazed and confused state since his coach was cut loose!!!!!!!! Get over it Ellis we love you man just play ball for Indiana that's what it is all about..............

    Gordon has completely lost the ability to shoot the three. Signs of a mental case or what? He's pretty much wide open on most of these shots.

    I wonder why he's still sporting the wrap on the wrist if it's not bothering him? I've read a couple of quotes that seem to indicate that he's gotten used to it, but it seems like his shot has really tailed off recently.

    In the 4 complete games since Sampson left, Gordon is 3 for 22 in threes, or about 13%. Before Sampson left, he was hitting about 40% of his threes.

    I have never seen so many BS traveling calls..then add in the Bassett 3 point play that was taken away...are you serious? That wasn't even close to a charge.

    It's as if Miles Brand talked to the refs b4 the game....I don't know what's more dissapointing the refs calls or IU's lack of passion....except Taber

    Why does DD hate Taber, all Taber does is produce in every way other than scoring yet DD puts Stemler and Dee in the game before Taber.

    Today I've seen DJ out on the wings and the top of the key a lot ... I don't think he's been in good position lately...but I don't think he's lacked intensity...just

    1. been out of position...
    2. our other players don't box out worth a damn, so other players shoot the gaps and get offensive rebounds which are no fault of DJ's.

    This is like a 2 or 3 seed team....really disappointing year. It will be a long time before we have a mature big man and a superstar freshman.....really hope we get it done in indy and at least get a 4

    This is a 1 or 2 seed talented team but plays uninspired b-ball. Instead of making plays and working a play they play like it should just open for them and they don't have to work for it.

    1. There's no way Taber traveled on that play...nor did DJ on his...EJ..maybe, but still horrible calls.

    2. Penn State has 11 fouls....draw contact and get to the damn line! It's pretty damn simple....We're the best FT shooting team in the league...too late now for that though

    Simply put no movement on offense, barely any on defense. We deserve exactly what we got a swift kick in the ars. At least one thing is for sure,,,,,,Mike Davis has to be proud that we brought his offense to Penn State today.................one on one ball will not get it done no matter how talented a team you have.....Bring on Tony Bennett, Sean Miller, Mark Few......Hell I'll even settle for Todd Jadlow....Neil Reed, Mike Bradley or Mike Davis,,did I just say that wow I must be depressed....Maybe I'll just write FU on my shoes and get suspended for one game for conduct detriminal to my team......Somebody just help us soon our promising season is sinking fast

    What a way to finish up the Big Ten season? Penn State playing short and still beats the mighty Hoosier's. Better hope Michigan beats Purdue.

    Jay I will try and sum it up....
    1. We forgot DJ was on the team the last 7minutes....down by two....3 after 3 after 3
    2. We need a new coach tomorrow
    3. Tabar should be starting the rest of the season
    4. Man to Man was a little better today
    5. EJ, needs another year of college
    6. Penn St. deserved to win, I like there coach.
    7. The requirement for IU's next coach should first be....not run a clean program, run a decent offense...that is a bigger issue......seriously
