That does't contradict what you said, though. The decision may have been a close one that was finally tipped by family issues.

Re: Friday Roundup: Wisconsin, Kravitz and Knight

check bill belichek's record prior to taking over in new england...he sucked with the browns. just a counterpoint to your arguement against DD.

Re: Friday Roundup: Wisconsin, Kravitz and Knight

butch had some serious family issues (I believe that his mom was battling cancer) when he redshirted on his own accord. I'm not a Sampson guy, I'm actually pretty excited about the chance to now get the right coach...But it sucks that all this will set the program back a few years.

Anyways, I just found this site a couple weeks ago, and it think it's great. I'll definitely keep checking it out daily.

Re: Friday Roundup: Wisconsin, Kravitz and Knight

Given IU's recent buyout payments it would be a lot less expensive to hire Brownell than a bigger name.....nevertheless....I could see an Armon, Jordan, and my favorite IU player NOT named EJ or DJ thrive in that offense......Matt "freakin" Roth....

Got two words for you ....You Tube
I love that kid.....

Re: Friday Roundup: Wisconsin, Kravitz and Knight

Calbert Cheaney would probably agree. Theres a difference between being an analyst and being a reporter. If you don't like seeing coaches curse, belittle, bullying and tormenting I guess you've never paid close attention to some of the best coaches ever or played any sports. Knight wrong was not caring who saw him doing it. Coach K, Calipari, Pitino keep it from public alot Bill G is big time bully but hides it pretty well. Not all successful coaches are pat ya on the butt, thank, "come on you can do it if you try" " you need a hug" type coaches.

Re: Friday Roundup: Wisconsin, Kravitz and Knight

Please let me know what qualifies and what is on DD's resume that says he deserves the head coach position permanently. I don't care if they won the Cahmpionship I wouldn't want him to stay as head coach. This would be a Mike Davis situation all over again. How does a guy coaching for 10 yrs at a mid major with a record barely above 500, 4 out of his last 5 seasons were losing ones, only head coaching the last 5 games of the season for IU make him qualified for IU.

Re: Friday Roundup: Wisconsin, Kravitz and Knight

Matt that was a"goodlooking" game to watch....Brownell would make me happy at IU...and my gut tells me he is one of the leading candidates....

Re: Friday Roundup: Wisconsin, Kravitz and Knight

If you want to see someone whine to the officials, watch Hansbrough. I even watched that in lieu of watching NC State meltdown (again) which is always good for some laughs. Both Drew and Brownell would be good fits at Indiana, but I don't think Homer would leave Valpo. He's got himself quite a niche there, and Valpo just moved into a stronger league and they're already competing.

Re: Friday Roundup: Wisconsin, Kravitz and Knight

The teenager inside me always found it amusing that "douche" was the French word for "shower". Getting McDonald's All Star Brian Butch to redshirt his freshman year. If Bennett can land a 6' 11" center while telling him he'll be benched for the entire first season, he's one terrific recruiter. Honest, too. Butch has had a so-so career, but at the time, everyone wanted him, including Duke and IU.

Re: Friday Roundup: Wisconsin, Kravitz and Knight

Is it safe to assume that by your spelling of douche...you don't use summer's eve? If Ellis, Thomas, and Crawford keep playing "IMMATURE" basketball, I say cut ties with DD and bring in Bennett. What are Hoosier faithful clamoring for/????

1. Young---Tony's 38
2. Winner---I'd say Nat'l Coach of the Year is pretty...uh...well, he's a winner
3. Recruiter---Devin Harris, Alando Tucker, Brian Butch (ew, i think i just vomitted in my mouth)
4. Clean---uh...not sure what to say about this one...but I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing Tony Bennett in any Verizon Wireless commercials anytime soon.

Granted Wazzu was a poor team recently, it should show you that in a four year span, he has taken a team that was perrenially the doormat of the PAC10 and has had them in the top 25 for the past 2 seasons...and he did it WITHOUT his dad.

As a consolation prize, i would definitely take Scott Drew too.

Re: Friday Roundup: Wisconsin, Kravitz and Knight

If anything, it defines ESPN's integrity bringing in Knight, and that's coming from someone who is none too found of the network. ESPN went out and got the most knowledgeable person available to cover college basketball DESPITE the fact that he has trashed some of the network's own. They're doing there job to the best of their ability. As far as Knight's stance on the media, he was absolutely doing his job. The media is about sensationalism and what would make the biggest story and Coach Knight's priority was to protect his team. We all know the bullshit questions reporters ask for the purpose of being divisive and sensational, and to say that Coach Knight was prodded beyond the way the media went after any other Coach would be the understatement of the century!!! And if you think Coach Knight is any kind of exception in the coaching world for his antic you CLEARLY have never been involved in any competitive team sport.

Re: Friday Roundup: Wisconsin, Kravitz and Knight

Who DOES govern the NCAA? Do they report to anyone? And don't say the schools themselves. If ESPN had any integrity, they would have someone with some class analyze their tournament games, and pass on Knight and his history of intimidating and embarassing reporters. I used to worship the ground Knight walked on, when I was a kid. Then, when I grew up and began seeing other great basketball minds NOT being jerks, cursing, kicking, belittling, bullying and tormenting, I started to see through Bob Knight. My loyalty has been, and always will be, with IU.

Re: Friday Roundup: Wisconsin, Kravitz and Knight

Is it true that the MSU students are on spring break and that there wont be as many deushe-bags there tomorrow?
