Good, Bad and Ugly: Loyola (Md.)
Gotta agree with you on "Clark in the dark's" rankings. I only mentioned him for a couple of reasons:
1. He's been around forever and he does see a lot of players.
2. It was an opportunity to bring up one of my favorite recruits, Ivan Renko.
I also found it curious that he doesn't include Matt Roth as committed to Indiana.
Ivan Renko, for sure.
All of the recruiting hype does little more than create jobs and dollars for a few prognosticators and kills a lot of time for those of us who continually read their rants.
Has anyone noticed lately, many of the teams doing well in recent NCAA tournaments have done so without highly acclaimed recruiting classes. In effect, their recruiting classes, going forward, will get a better look from the prognosticators, due to their tournament success, thus higher recruiting class ratings.
As a freshman, Redick had little more than a jump shot that he could probably shoot accurately from mid court. But by his senior year, he could do alot of other things pretty well.
I mean it might be a stretch, but from the video I've seen of Roth, he seems like the same type of player, and his shot is ridiculous. He was hitting one contested tre' after another. I would love to see him mature into the type of player Redick was. I just hope he's hitting the gym every day because his body isn't exactly big ten ready at this point.
This is a very very good class that imho will turn out to be a foundation laying class to build a program around, I the room for improvement in ALL of them is very HIGH..........
