Inside the Hall: Emmanuel Negedu to visit Indiana on June 3

  • junkman · 1 year ago
Seems like he may be waiting to hear on Crawford's future at Indiana before making his decision...
  • hoosierfan27 · 1 year ago
Why would he be waiting on Crawford?
  • Ben_M · 1 year ago
No, I think he is stepping back and taking a look at his options

    Sweeeeeeeeet! Go get em coach.
  • hoosier07 · 1 year ago
I have a feeling we will be hearing about an official visit to all four schools in the near future (maybe not Tenn.). Hopefully he falls in love with the history and tradition inside Assembly Hall. Immediate PT and Coach Crean, could it all be the perfect fit?

Allright here we go... I hope we can land Negedu! I really believe we have a great shot. Tijan Jobe signing is not gonna hurt in the least bit. In fact, I think it really helps us along with the considerable amount PT he will get.

Van Coleman of CSTV and Hoopsmasters.com has just updated his team rankings for the 2008 recruiting class (http://www.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/stories/052...). He has The Hoos ranked at 21 in the nation.

This is just one man's opinion and these lists can obviously be the subject of endless debate, but considering where our beloved Hoos stood a month ago it still makes me feel pretty good... It makes me feel American.

    Jordan Crawford for SBP '09!!!

Looking at the rankings and the teams trying to land Negedu and assuming he has a healthy ego he can:

    1. play fewer minutes on a good team ie Tenn, Memphis ( ranked higher w some bigs coming in )
    or
    2. be the goto player at GT or IU

I hope he is wanting to be the star in front of 17k in a storied state and program.

I think Crawford will have a great year regardless.

Big-A, what do you think our realistic shot is of landing him? For whatever reason, I can't see us getting this guy, but I haven't followed it as closely. Any thoughts?

I'd feel a lot better if we had the final visit. Right now, you'd have to call Memphis the favorite due to his ties with Josh Pastner.

Considering where we were a month or so ago, I think CTC has done nothing short of miraculous. I wouldn't count Negedu out. Crean has obviously been able to recruit on dreams and the glory of Hoosier basketball history. A month ago, I believed that it would take at least 5 years to build Hoosier basketball back to it's position in college basketball. Now I can't wait for next year even though I know it won't be our best year, no pure talent like EJ but for players who will be out there with pure hustle and effort.

I think we have a great shot at getting Negedu because....

    1. Crean seems to be working some magic with these kids in 08/09 classes that they fall in love with....

    2. PT, not a frosh in the country wants to sit or be limited in their playing time. We can offer more that what he would have gotten in Zona....

    3. You cannot downplay the fact of playing on national tv and in front of 17k EVERY home game because it is Indiana.

    4. I do not under estimate the POWER of the internet and I believe these kids read blogs and look at websites like this one to see where the fan base is coming from. If the interenet is the driving force for a presidential election this year, surely kids check it out for bball information.

    5. Player development, kids want to get better and no that a coach isn't hiding the fact that their may be some pro aspirations to help them get better. Negedu has some holes in his game he could fill at IU for sure to compliment his SICK athletic ability.

I read a thread from one of the recruiting analysts on rivals.com saying that Negedu is getting pressure from those closest to him to go to IU. And he said not to count us out for a second. Apparently it looks like we really do have a decent shot at landing him. I will be the first to say that I hope Negedu does what's best for himself and chooses the school that he feels is the best fit or him, although I we be very pleased to see him in the candy stripes later this winter. Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up.

Still think it is a very poor chance we get him. We have had no luck with these late top players in the past. Plus he can go with Memphis or Tenn and be on awesome teams right away. He would be our main guy up front for sure. He certainly could give us one guy up front. I still do not see it though. I expect him to go to UT though. The draw of playing in the tourney is hard to turn down.

    O' Come, O' Come, Emmanuel....
  • hoosier07 · 1 year ago
anyone see Kory Barnett's quotes from peegs on Negedu's decision making process?? to sum it up: not worried about playing time, more concerned with the relationship he can develop with coaches and players. however, he did also say he was "into it (IU)", whatever that may mean ...
  • woodpecker · 1 year ago
I really think that IU has a great shot at EN. A homeland pal, guardian local, PT, and last but not least CTC!!!!!!!!!
  • MemphisHoosier · 1 year ago
hopefully IU can land this kid. Great addition to a solid class if Coach can pull it off. I'll do my part by trying to sabatoge his visit to Tiger High here in Memphis:-)
