  • Maybe it deserves its own post, I don't know, but I thought it was important to at least comment on the poll question of whether or not we would want Dakich on the new coaching staff. I, for one, can't say enough about how much I appreciate what that man did stepping into probably the worst situation imaginable, and given that, he was servicable and handled it quite well. I would love to see DD stay with us in some capacity but, I don't want to see him on the coaching staff.
I think we need a clean break from the last two years. Thats why I draw positives from EJ's departure, and I think to have DD on the bench next year would just be one more reason for morons like Billy Packer to talk about our mess. I think the team needs a fresh start and needs to shake the ghosts of KS.
  • Well said. I completely agree.
  • It's clear that DD loves IU, and having people around that understand and love IU and "get" what the basketball program stands for within the University and the community is very important.

However, we all witnessed serious problems with the DD led Hoosiers this season that should not be relived or repeated next season. I won't lay "blame" on DD, because it was a tough position to be put in. And he generally handled the situation with class.

So, I agree...I don't think DD should be on the bench next season. I do, however, think that DD could fulfill a function related to IU basketball and excel at it. I'm sure the administration can find a position for someone with so much experience with IU basketball. The question really becomes, does DD want it anymore?
  • well said!
