Anybody worried about Calipari going to Kentucky?

Very worried about Calipari. The guy can flat out recruit. Indiana has already been getting killed by Patino & Louisville for in-state/Chicago recruits and now we have Calipari in our backyard too.

Maybe I'm blowing it out of proportion, and it might not hurt IU too much, but it certainly doesn't help or make Crean's job any easier to have Calipari at Kentucky.

Calipari is a very shady character. He will fit in nicely at Kentucky. Hopefully the NCAA will catch on to him while he is there.

I agree he's very shady, but unless the NCAA investigates him, and it doesn't look like they are, he will be very tough to have so close to Indiana. This is not a good thing for IU and Tom Crean.

I was hoping Gillespie would stay at UK and completely wreck the program- and I am a little nervous about Calipari. On the other hand it is easy to see him crashing & burning at UK due to cheating or unrealistic expectations.

I don't think it changes anything for IU long-term, we need most of the best Indiana players to stay home.

I wouldn't worry about Calipari. Yeah he is a good recruiter and will be successful at Uk. But he will look at recruits that only will be there for one year. Crean will be fine. Calipari was recruiting Christian Watford and Crean won him. Nothing to fret about. Crean will be able to hold his own.

I am not worried about Calipari at all. If Crean continues to own this state, painter, pitino, and calipari can have the left overs....

Remember those guys for LN that are all going to L'Ville.....look how ALL that talent turned out....regional exit! Van Trese will leave L'Ville after his first year, surely no one can see him on that team playing that type of pace.....

Calipari as far as I know got one guy out of Indiana, which was Garcia and that was against KS.....

Crean will be fine and remember....'because it's IU"

As I told Alex....Calipari going to KY he will bring about 4 guys who play the same spot with him, which will surely drive Dom Fergunson right out of there sooner rather than later......just a prediction

A little off the subject...but a very reliable source informed me this evening that Deshaun Thomas has recently become pretty interested in the IU program. Not sure how I feel about this, considering he'd most likely be a one and done anyway.

I was torn on this but I believe Thomas won't be a one and done, he has put up tremendous numbers in h.s. but since the 'next lebron' hype has quieted down I think he could spend a couple of years in college. Call me naive, but he has dominated the 2a circuit (thanks to class basketball) but his game need some polishing.....I wouldn't mind him coming to IU at all and he is an indiana kid....

Also, Indiana has gotten very very one and done's over the years so if it happens once in awhile I am ok with it......

I am happy we did not get Darius Smith. I would much rather try to lock up Kyrie Irving. Seems like a better all around player. Ferguson and Thomas should also be at the top of Crean's to do list, only if they officially decommit from their respective schools, or they show interest in IU. If either of those things happen, the sky is the limit if we get just one of these two players, let alone both Ferguson and Thomas

in response to everyone's worries about calipari....don't be. yeah he'll recruit and make kentucky themselves again but remember for the most part we don't recruit the same kinds of players. crean seems to be after guys who can build a team through 3 or 4 years. Cal gets guys who are one and done or busy slapping their girlfriends around or starting riots on Beale street.....I for my own selfish reasons am glad Cal went to UK simply cause it gets him out of the city I live in and i don't have to hear the Memphis cheaters fans going on and on about him. they told me all week he would never leave.

anyway i digress...go hoosiers I like the team we have for next year and don't forget a few of those guys we barely lost to kentucky might not wanna play for cal or might have to exit due to him bringing some of his guys so we might steal a good one late

I just don't understand the animosity many IU fans have toward IU recruiting players that will most likely leave early. I would be ecstatic if IU had the #1 recruiting class in the nation every year. So a few would leave after one year, some would leave after two, who cares. The top recruiters just keep reloading.

To be clear, I'm talking about talent here, not character and academics. Of course we want high character guys that stay eligible. I personally don't care for Calipari, but the guy gets players. So Rose was one and done, he just replaced him with Tyreke Evans and won 30 games again.

I love the model that UNC, UCLA and KU have right now. Do some guys leave early, yes? But, a lot end up staying 2-4 years due to logjams or some other reason, but they always have top 10-20 recruiting classes and they just reload.

Why would we not want that?

Keep in mind that there are only so many scholarships to give out. There is enough talent to go around whether it is in-state or otherwise. Crean will get his and Pitino and Calipari will get theirs. Hulls is a great start for in-state representation on the roster and others will follow. Don't sweat the recruiting competition in Lexington and Louisville. If anything, we should rejoice that the old Midwest rivalries involving IU/KY/LV/ND/PUR are heating up again. It will be good us in the long run and help break up the monopoly of the NC/Duke rivalry that ESPN is so fond of.

Plane....couldnt agree more....I remember the says of watching IU battle UK, ND, and PU all in the same year and now these games are barely televised so a good KY team and a good IU team is what is needed to make it back to rivalry week.......

somehow we have been bumped by unc/duke for the men and women

I'm getting really uncomfortable with this trend over the last three years. When a school gets reported for doing the wrong things, it seems a top 50 recruit commits the next week. Hmmmm, could this be a distraction of what the real issue is? Cheating? I hope Darius enjoys whatever extra benefit that was offered to get the heat off Calhoun.

The one and done thing? We do need one of those guys on the roster every year if we are are going for the banner. We have to keep up with the Jones'.

Kentucky can have Calipari. The guy just looks like a bad man. Maybe there's something he did in Memphis that he doesn't want to catch up with him.

Hey guys, if we are going to rattle the IU needs to keep Indiana players in state, we need to not only refer to Hulls, but also Derek Elston. I have not been able to see Elston play in high school, but am looking forward to see what he can do for IU.
