Dan Dakich on 670 the Score

Started by PostmanR · 1 year ago

Interim head coach Dan Dakich was on the Mike North Show this morning on 670 The Score in Chicago.

North, for all intensive purposes, is the quintessential faux-chicago meat head. Normally, I wouldn’t ever knowingly subject you to this guy, but this is a decent inte ... Continue reading »

  • hey guys did you hear samson is still calling and texting the IU players...i saw that on rome is burning
  • Mike North is such an assclown.

Dakich is doing the right thing by 'Bill Lynching it' aka, not saying anything interesting...that's what needs to be done.

I feel bad for Double D...I really have a hard time believing he's going to get the job regardless of how the team does the rest of the year. They could make the final four and i'd still be asking for a new coach....
  • To take a quote from Peter Griffin:

You know what grinds my gears?

Ignorant professional broadcasters who still think IU is "the University of Indiana."

    Assclown indeed.
  • I think Stewie should be our next coach.
  • T, I couldn't agree with you more on both accounts.

I am from the Chicago Area and a huge White Sox fan so I am subjected to this moron regularly. I have never heard someone exaggerate their Chicago accent soo much.

And I too feel bad for Danny. You know this has to be a dream for the man after playing here and all his years as an assistant here in Bloomington. I wish him, and the team, the best and You really want to pull for the guy. At the same time, I feel like come the end of the season I too will be pulling for a new coach.
  • As a Chicago resident, I too have to deal with this blowhard when I get tired of listening to the World Wide Leader in the morning. I've only been living here for five years so I have no clue how this guy got a job or how he is keeping the job. I guess it is a Chris Berman situation and he was first and line when they were passing out jobs and now they just can't get rid of him.
  • Isn't it "for all intents and purposes?"
  • For all incense and porpoises.
  • It seems Danny had a better chance at getting the gig if he wasn't the coach.....If he wants to secure the job...there is one solution....WIN THE WHOLE DAMN THING....

That is the only way I see it happening....
  • they could have the jerky boys running the show if we win the whole damn thing...i wouldn't have a problem
  • Mmmmm . . . jerky. - Homer Simpson
  • Steve: North used to be a hot dog vendor at Wrigley Field.

His original purpose was to bring the 'joe blow' perspective to the Chicago Sports radio scene...but since he's been around and famous forever in Chicago he's lost that common man perspective, if he ever had it.

For Chicagoans I recommend the World Wide Leader for Sports radio. Mike and Mike isn't bad for a national broadcast, Waddle and Silvy are pretty underrated and Mac, Jurko and Harry are in my opinion the best Chicago has to offer.
  • Going to have to disagree....

Boers & Bernstein are the best sports talk Chicago has to offer.

They are the most intelligent and the funniest. Plus they are world class wise-asses. Good, good stuff.
  • Has anyone had a sinking feeling that you will wake up in about a 6weeks and Greenspan will March out on to assembly hall with another bad hire......

I just keep getting this hire an "older guy" feeling from Greeny....Rick Barnes, Randy Whitman, etc etc.....good guys but I want a coach who will be here when my is ready to come to IU as a shooting guard...in 17 years!

Maybe it is the tator tots I ate.........
  • I couldn't agree more. As pleased as I am that KS is out, I really am worried about the next hire Greenspan has the potential to bungle. How do you give Lynch an extension BEFORE the bowl game? It's not like people were banging down his door.

I really am hoping for someone with some experience and success but a LONG TERM Coach. Someone who has 15-20 years of top notch potential in him. And please, god, stay away from Scott Skiles, Randy Wittman and Mike Woodson.
  • Rooting for Michigan State on Thursday....last game that will test Wisconsin...if not, we're going to have to win out to get a share of the Big Ten title.
  • Agreed on Dakich--great guy and good coach, but probably not the right hire at the end of the season. Listening to this, though, I'm reminded how scary it was listening to Mike Davis in front of a microphone. Honestly answering every question is far from a virtue.

As for the host's complete misunderstanding of the texting rules...are you serious?? Maybe I'm over-involved, but how do you botch that one so badly?
  • In defense of Davis (can't believe I'm writing that), he was thrown to the wolves by a clueless IU administration. It was clear after 30 seconds that Davis was a poor speaker. He should have received training, with extensive role-playing, before he was anywhere near a microphone. Not that it would have helped his coaching or recruiting, but wow, was he a bad public speaker. And people at IU should have done something about that before they let him represent the university to the nation.
  • First of all I'd like to thank God for giving me this opportunity....
