There is the future PG of the Indiana Basketball Team good work TC i saw a video of this guy take it right to Arizona freshman Jerryd Bayless last year so you know hes gotten better since then. now our team is looking better and better all we need now is Sutton to come to solidify the frontcourt and we might be in alright shape for next year
  • hoosierfan27 · 1 year ago
If you watched the same video I did he had 28 pts and 8 assists against Bayless, a lottery pick in the draft. Huge pickup. Keep it up Crean.
-I know this isn't a football blog but its looking like the Hoosiers are getting Jerimy Finch transferring from Florida. He was the top safety prospect coming out of high school and has since converted to linebacker. This may be the best player to come here in years.
  • TomCoverdaleIUHero · 1 year ago
Finch is going to be a stud lets hope he goes to Indiana
  • msdiu81 · 1 year ago
Wow! Everything I read, we were going to lose him to the Gophers! Great recruiting job Coach!! 08-09 season is slowly looking better.

In the long run this might very well be a huge coup for IU. V has yo-yo handles, high basketball IQ, quick and a great passer, etc., etc..

What he's lacking is strength and strength alone and there's a chance that he will never have the strength to really thrive at the high D1 level especially in the Big Ten but if he can add weight and strength then watch out because the talent is there and it's high quality.
  • BGleas · 1 year ago
This is a total pipedream, but Crean looks like he's good at pulling a cat out of a bag, J'Mision Morgan the #6 center in the country and 5-star prospect is asking out of his LOI at LSU.

Neither Indiana or Marquette were on his radar before, but hey, we have TONS off playing time to offer. A guy can always dream right?

  • Kelin Blab · 1 year ago
So much for scrolling down....Bud Mackey going to jail..........good job KS I will blame you for this too along with high gas prices.
  • MikeinNC · 1 year ago
Any ideas who Crean is focusing on to bring in some size, low-post strength, and rebounding?
  • Kelin Blab · 1 year ago
I love the fact we got another Illinois kid, nothing like continuing our tradition of pissing off Weber...I just hope he doesnt'' get fired...it makes the Illannoy game watchable...
  • Matt_J · 1 year ago
Don't forget, it's a long, proud tradition dating back at least through Lou Henson, of pissing off Illinois coaches by nabbing Illinois players.

J'Mison Morgan or Maurice Sutton should be next on the list for CTC. It might be too late to go after Morgan, but the need for at least one more big is fairly evident with the roster for next year. Getting any three star big man for next year or someone higher ranked would really REALLY make me believe in CTC, even though everything he has already done is pretty amazing recruiting wise.
  • TomCoverdaleIUHero · 1 year ago
No one knows what J'Mison is going to do but if he does get released from his LOI look for him to go to UCLA at least that is what rivals is saying. It says his AAU coach is saying he will be released but his Prep Coacg is saying he is going to LSU so i would say not mess with him at all. Maurice Sutton looks to be a legitimate possibilty, the only other visit he has made was wit Seton Hall and i think after he comes to Bloomington he will call for a Presser and Sign his LOI right on campus nd the '08 class will be complete. After that it willbe on to SVT with the '08 class and possible '09 class we could be very good by '09 and def '10.

Great pickup for Crean. I have a feeling that he is going to focus big time on bigs next year. We already have a really good one in Elston and a decent one in Capobianco. If we get Van Treese, that is 3 big guys that can play in one class to go along with Pritchard, who will surprise a lot of people this first year. Right now there aren't the same quality of bigs still available as there are guards, so Crean is doing well in that he is getting the best available players
  • Spencer_D · 1 year ago
Anyone have any news on J Crawford looking to transfer out as well? I've heard from a fairly reliable inside source that Jordan wanted out. Rumors are still rumors though.
  • Kelin Blab · 1 year ago
I have not heard that but I hope it isn't true.....if you have a coach who is great at player developement, given dwayne wade's success, it would incline Jordan to stay, not to mention he is only a soph.....
  • CoveyDale · 1 year ago
i think you're underrating this "get" Postman...

the committment of Jones is just as big of a deal as getting a big guy. IU has two glaring needs: size and a true point guard - Jones fills one of those needs. without him, IU would probably have had Crawford (who has about a 1:15 A/TO ratio) starting at PG and Finklemeier splitting time off the bench.

hopefully this class is still not complete. i'd like to see sutton come aboard and even though i'm usually anti-juco, with this current situation they should try to add a temporary stop-gap post player.
  • Kelin Blab · 1 year ago
    THings at IU are great.....

    sincerely...Brandon McGee

Now how about a reverse dunk!
  • jdaddy · 1 year ago
Seriously, we need some bigs! Tom Pritchard is gritty and will turn into a solid Big Ten type player but after that we have Taber, McGee and uhhhmmm. Who ever is out there with some sort of talent and good ethic and size, IU should really look at that. Sutton? Not sure about this kid, up and down games, will get knocked around B10 play, needs weight. Thoughts about any other names we got 2 more schollys, I think???

J'Mison Morgan would be an unbelievable get if Crean can pull it off. Saw him play this past March in the state championship and he is the real deal. Very versatile player and moves very well for his size. He looks like he has the potential to get huge like 6'10" 270 which would be amazing and is exactly what we need. He won the state championship in 4A every year. He knows what it takes to win and he would be a stud on the Indiana campus. All in all though, I am incredibly pleased with Crean's recruiting efforts thus far and am excited to see if he has any huge suprises in the near future.
  • Alex · 1 year ago
I mean really, does it get much better than a Brett Finkelmeier avatar? I think not.
  • BGleas · 1 year ago
It would be unbelievable, but I doubt if we would have any chance. Sounds like he could be a "one and done" candidate, which means he's most likely looking for a guaranteed spot in the tourney next year and a good chance at a Final Four to showcase his skills.

He'll get playing time no matter where he goes, so that's not really a draw IU can use.
  • BGleas · 1 year ago
And yes, I do realize I totally contradicted my post from last night where I used "TONS of playing time" as a reason he might be interested in IU:)
  • TomCoverdaleIUHero · 1 year ago
i dont know if Morgan would fit in well with TC's philosophy he is slow not too horribly athletic and the videos i saw is not a very good shot blocker while maurice sutton is athletic, quick and brings in defense as his best asset i say just get sutton now and then worry about SVT
  • BGleas · 1 year ago
For real? I understand that you can't just look at how many stars are next to a guys name, but you'd honestly rather have Sutton who is a three star prospect, not rated in the top 150 in his class and even ITH called him a project, over a 5-star center who is ranked 25th in the class and the 6th rated center?

Especially for a team that doesn't really have time to wait for a project. If Sutton is a project, then by the time he gets ready to play at a decent level a guy like SVT would already be in the program.
  • Kelin Blab · 1 year ago
I hate to say this BUT...PU did well without a big man this year. We don't expect to win the big ten title so I could deal with Sutton, he could not be any rawer' than Eli "I hate plant holders" Holman.
  • BGleas · 1 year ago
But you would rather have Sutton over Morgan?
  • TomCoverdaleIUHero · 1 year ago
The thing is....why waste time trying to Morgan and have not come when you almost have a guarenteed thing in Sutton im not saying Sutton is a better player but i think he is a better fit in TC's style of play and i dont think SVT would be playing center anyways he is a PF he is only 6'8.
  • BGleas · 1 year ago
(For argument's sake I'm assuming that it's IU's choice and both want to come.)

Obviously I'm just going by reports and rankings, but it seems to me that the talent difference and expected level of impact are different enough between Morgan and Sutton that it would override fit.

I've read a lot of comments over the past month or so alluding to Crean's system not needing great big men, but I'm sure if you asked Crean he would find a way to fit a stud big man into his system.
  • BGleas · 1 year ago
By "guaranteed thing" do you mean guaranteed to show up or guaranteed to have an impact?

I think how much of an impact Sutton would have is very debatable, especially as a freshmen and sophomore.
  • TomCoverdaleIUHero · 1 year ago
i mean guarenteed to come to Indiana

Last summer, I seen a post on here about Ft. Wayne Luers player, Deshaun Thomas. Does anyone have an update about him as to whether he has commited to a college yet or not? I watched him and his team play our High School in the 2A final four this past season. They had like 8 players over 6-6(or something like that). :wow: They ended up winning the State championship then, but overall I was really impressed with his play.
  • woodpecker · 1 year ago
DeShaun Thomas has a soft verbal to Ohio State.
I was wondering if anyone knew if IU is still in the running for Ebanks? If the Hoosiers could land him again that would be lovely!!!

Keep up the good work coach Crean!
  • BGleas · 1 year ago
Can Big A make a post on the homepage about Ebanks NOT coming to IU? Every day there is someone on here aksing about Ebanks or saying we're still int he running.

Ebanks is NOT coming to IU. He'll most likely end up at West Virginia or Memphis.
  • woodpecker · 1 year ago
relax, It was just a question!

By the way wasn't V Jones a lock to go to Minnesota? .. just sayin!
