Inside the Hall: Bud Mackey enrolls at Atlanta high school

    so what? so long!

i can't believe sampson would even consider this kid.

i wish nothing but the best for mackey, but i wish him elsewhere.

this kind of trouble is something iu does not need. can you imagine the harping coming from some of these ITH "haters" if mackey did take the route mentioned here.

i think its a publicity stunt on his part to make people think that what he did wasn't all that bad. does anyone know the truth as to whether or not sampson would consider him after some time at the juco level?

by the way, huggins is no longer at cincy...but it seems they will continue the tradition.

so will cincy be obligated to offer mackey the scholarship when he comes in as a thirty-year old freshman after serving his prison term? i can't see him getting off without at least serving some time in prison...he had possession of an illegal substance INSIDE a school (sentencing is much more harsh within so many hundred yards of a school, much less within the school). if convicted, which with the evidence i can't see why he wouldn't be, he won't be on any roster for the coming years.

if allowed to attend college and avoid prison, mackey will be another sad example of athletes getting "the slap on the wrist" due to a very corrupt society and legal system.

    Ray,

I think the fact that he moved to Atlanta and is apparently going to suit up as early as this week is telling of how this situation will end up.

I'm going to preface this by saying that I know it is a stereotype and maybe even racist remark.

But is Atlanta really the place for a kid to go to turn his life around? I mean, if he can find trouble in Georgetown, Kentucky, what is he going to do in his spare time in Atlanta? On the trouble rankings, Atlanta, GA > Georgetown, KY by an immeasurable distance.

I hope it's not so, and it would be a good story if Mackey got his act together. But I wouldn't be surprised if the next time you mention Bud Mackey, it will be because of another felony.

cincinnati offering a scholarship to a felon? hmmm what a suprise.

the bearcats have been scanning the police blotter for their recruits for years.
