Inside the Hall: Bob Knight will shoot you with a pellet gun

  • dabig · 2 years ago
The story says that Simpson took the video after he was hit by the pellets. But, in the video, he does not mention that he was hit by pellets. Pellets landed in his swimming pool, he says, but he does mention that he was hit by pellets himself. It's an odd story.

I meant to type that Simpson does NOT mention that he was hit by pellets himself.

City boys with huntin' guns...never a good thing.

As I understand it (see last line of the above article) the shots that hit Simpson were shot after he confronted Knight and walked away. That's the version I have heard elsewhere. Simpson walked away and Knight fired into the air over Simpson.

From the South Bend Tribune article:

"Simpson said that it wasn't until after he was struck by the stray pellets that he went to confront Knight.

"Simpson never mentions on video during the confrontation that he had been struck by pellets. Asked why he didn't bring it up to Knight, Simpson said, "because I was a nervous wreck.""

I can hear this in my head now:
"Bob Knight, meet Vice President Dick Cheney. Dick, this is Coach Knight. You'll both be hunting together so you'd better take these bullet-proof vests...."

C'mon guys, Bob Knight does not use the Red Rider BB gun to hunt. Its not a pellet gun, its a shell that a fires bunch of tiny pellets at birds, I know that and I have never even picked up a gun or hunted.

If you go hunting in this group, wear Kevlar.

Aside from a raised tone, there is nothing incriminating in the video. To me, it looks like Simpson was of the thinking, "Hey, honey, get my camera, we're gonna get a settlement, yeehaw!" His story and his video don't exactly corroborate each other. He clearly says there were pellets or what not in his pool and to get away from his property, but then says he was hit with them later. Also, if you listen to the audio, he starts saying "Don't point that gun at me" or something along those lines repeatedly. Unfortunately, you don't even see if Robert Montgomery Burns, I mean Knight, has a gun in his hands at that point. It's all silly crap that is great for fueling the media's hunger for detritus.

Typical RMK. Never thinks he is wrong. That's
why he got canned from IU.

I think Bobby thought it was Jimmy Sampson, Kelvins long lost cousin and was going to take it out on him until he saw the camera........vbg
  • Phillip · 2 years ago
I woul dhave shot him too if he had said that to me...What an idiot.
  • Gary Clipp · 2 years ago
I think RMK is a jerk, his son a chip off the old block sans talent and I am quite happy they are both gone. That being said I watched the youtube "long version" of this "confrontation". And you have to be sympathetic to Knight being confronted by a West Texas yahoo with a low IQ. Petty sad.

I wonder what Neil Reid thinks about all of this...

    Who gives a crap?

If you want to see Bobby arguing on camera, watch a Texas Tech game, it's two straight hours of him arguing with three guys.

So as far as we know, this is the THIRD time Bob Knight has hit someone while hunting?

I recommend a basic gun safety course for the general.

I hope he retires and goes away before he really hurts someone or someone shoots back!

We really did create a monster.

SHUT UP ALREADY! MY DAD IS A GOD AND YOU KNOW IT!!! ANYMORE NEGATIVE COMMENTS AND I WILL COME UP THERE AND KICK YOUR BUTT!
  • MPmike · 2 years ago
Just like all the negative stories of Bob Knight, they all tend to blow everything out of proportion. Granted Knight brings negative baggage to himself, but this incident is no big deal.
