Pick to Click: Pittsburgh
Since most LOI's are done now its about time to coach 'em up.
In the mood for predicting I sense the following:
PG - Dumes sharing w Jones
SG - Crawford , Dumes giving him a breather now and then
C - Pritchard w Jobe giving him a breather
PF/SF - Rotating lineup w Taber , McGee, Williams and Jobe depending on the situation
I really donot see Roth in the mix unless he plays "D" really well. In thinking it through I really really miss a C so a) Pritchard could play PF or a PF so McGee could play SF.
Unless Negedu comes to IU I think TC has his work cut out to get this team into the NCAA
SG - Crawford
SF - Williams
PF - McGee
C - Pritchard
6th man - Dumes
7 - Taber
8 - Roth
9 - Jobe
Last year he looked half way decent because the only player really playing for the team and with passion was DJ. He doesn't move well and can't/doesn't shoot. All teams had to do was double off him. Maybe if he sheds some baby fat, tones up, and gets a knee brace that fits...I maybe ok with seeing him on the floor on a regular basis. Right now I'll go with the blind pick of Pritchard and McGee. Maybe/hopefully I'm wrong.
Emmanuel Negedu will probably follow ex-AZ Assistant Pastner who recruited him for AZ and is now at Memphis. The only hope IU has with Negedu is if he comes to Bloomington because he has familiarity here because of his AAU Bloomington Team and/or because a fellow African Jobe has already committed to IU.
As for Sutton, I think signing Jobe eased the pain a bit on that. Jobe and Sutton are both projects. Jobe is a two year deal.........and probably a better choice for a "quick fix" to the big man problem we have for next year. Sutton would be a nice addition and would probably pan out to be a solid rotating center by the time he was a Junior, but if we don't get him that leaves us scholarships for the future. We can get him now...or we can get one of the best center in the country who isn't a project a few years down the road.
I have faith in Tom Crean. I'm happy with the fact that players aren't running from IU due to the recent problems surrounding the program. If we are competeing with Memphis (Negedu) and beating Duke out on players (Hulls) I would say IU and Tom Crean have a great future together. Having scholarships for the future could bring us the nations best as Crean proves he's shaping the program the way he invisions it.
Possible
PG- Dumes/ Jones
SG- Crawford/ Roth
SF- McGee/ Williams
PF- Negudu/ Pritchard
C- Taber/ Jobe
I really look for alot from N. Williams, he seems like a solid player. I am still uncertain about Pritchard, I have never seen any tape of him.
