Thoughts of Bassett not coming back make me a sad panda.

I have seen AB walking into Assembly Hall twice in the last few weeks. I agree that he, and probably Ellis as well, want to stay at IU and will do anything to achieve that goal. I imagine that Bassett has Crean watering at the mouth given his explosive potential and ability to hit fall away jumpers similar to one Dwayne Wade. I guess it will just come down to their attitude over this next week. They definitely have many people on this campus "pulling" for them.

Dwayne Wade? Give me a break. Bassett does not have any of the skills or athletic ability as a Wade. Are you Nuts? Bassett is a good outside shooter with little to no driving ability for the reason why he did not nearly shoot enough free throws in comparison to Eric Gordon. Gordon is more of a Wade than Bassett. Finally, I don't think Tom Crean is even thinking about Bassett or Ellis because he is more worried about the whole culture of IU basketball starting with academics and the entire mindset of playing for IU.

Hadn't heard the rumors about Armon transferring to Cincy, but it would certainly make for some irony given that we had commitment from Indy's own Deonta Vaugn (Cincy's PG and leading scorer). Vaughn was a Davis recruit who dipped out when Sampson was hired and the EJ recruiting wars began.

Guess he figured with Calloway and Bassett already on board his freshman year and EJ coming in the following year, there wouldn't be much room for him. He would have been a stud for this team as a junior PG.

Oh and Mr. C, let's not get carried away with putting Bassett and Wade in the same sentence. I love Armon for who he is, maximizing his talent and how he will fit in for this team next season if his grades hold up. But he is not built from the same mold as Wade.

Vaughn went to Harmony to make sure he was D1 eligible while Bassett spent a year at Hargrave Military. He never "dipped out," rather both he and IU went separate ways in late 2005, which was before Sampson was on board and before Eric Gordon was headed to IU. DV committed to Cincinnati in April 06 after Mick Cronin was hired and by that time, yes, Bassett was already inked to play for the Hoosiers and wasn't receiving interest from IU. In fact, the only other school he took an official too was Oakland in Michigan.

Whoa ladies, chill out. I didn't say AB was the next anything. I was just saying he is an explosive player that has experience and has shown the potential to take over the game. Dwayne Wade was no Dwayne Wade either until Crean took over him. He was only recruited by one school besides Marquette. So before you try to throw me under the "culture of IU basketball" bus, why don't you go ahead and look at the potential that Armon has. Do you think that Crean doesn't want to touch him? If the grades aren't there, then no, of course not. That is his top priority and I applaud that. But if AB comes out and improves himself off of the court then why would Coach Crean want to leave him alone?

I agree that he has talent but the comparison to Wade is not even close. How many baskets to how many three pointers had Bassett made. He has not made many shots driving to the lane. I will say this- it would be good to have Bassett on the team only if he changes his whole mindset of playing for IU.
