1. Player gets kicked off team, does he lose scholarship at that point and therefore if later becomes academic inelgible we escape the loss of scholarships ?
2. DO grades of kicked off players count toward 925 or left out ?
3. What if its Stemler, Gordon, White no making grades with no eligibility do they count ?
As WC Fields reportedly said when asked why he was reading the bible so late in life .................. ," just looking for loopholes , just looking for loopholes"
1. If you kick a player off the team, they normally retain their scholarships until the end of the year. Then you can easily use the scholarship for someone else. If that player is academically ineligible, there is a chance you will lose the ability to transfer that scholarship.
2. I'm not positive, but I would be shocked if the grades of players who were dismissed from the team didn't count. Think about that for a second. No coach should be able to get around having a bunch of academic risks by kicking them off the team.
3. Stemler and DJ will likely both give 1 point for retention/graduating (assuming they do) and 1 point if they make their grades. Gordon will cause us to lose 1 point for not retaining him, but if he makes his grades, we'll get 1 point, and he will not be one of the players who causes us to lose a scholarship for leaving while academically ineligible.
