Inside the Hall: A sign of the times: season tickets available

  • Stunnedmonkey · 1 year ago
I would have had a different reaction to this if the tickets were renewable, however since these are 1 year only tickets that can be (most likely will be) pulled next year I figure most people will pass.

I tried to get single season tickets to the Bemidji Eskimo's game Tuesday and best available was Balcony JJ. On the plus side I would get to hear the usher yell Applesauce until I eventually plummet to my death.

As a current season ticket holder, I want to thank the students for not buying the tickets. I just purchased a second set so all 4 of us in my family can go to the games. I also like the fact that floor seats were available for the mini series, so we will be there cheering on our Hoosiers, up close and smelling the sweat. Too bad the students don't understand what Indiana basketball is all about. Yes we will lose many games, but the team needs us more now than last year. My family and I will gladly make the 3.5 hour trip to see them play and give them the support they need. So thanks students, you made my kids very happy today!! Go IU!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditto ! IU basketball is a way of life. I could not pick and choose tickets based on the season. Wish they were renewable.

God this makes me sick. I'm a current student, and I bought my tickets the day they became available. A kid who was in my seating group last year told me that he wasn't going to be in our group this year, and I assumed he had found another group he would rather sit with. But no, he didn't get tickets. I sat with him all of last year and would have easily said he was one of the most loyal fans I know. Now, I'm not so sure.

This is Indiana. If you won't buy tickets when your team is down, then you're not a fan to me and I rather have the public buy them because at least they'll support the team fully. This is just another reason why our students do NOT deserve a better student section.

Perhaps it would be a good time to close the balcony seats. I sat there once and decided never again. If they ever decided to improve AH, taking out the balcony seats and adding seats at both ends of the court would make a better place to view the games. AH is one of the worse venues in the Big Ten if you're in the balcony. I can commiserate with students who don't want any part of those seats. TV is better.

Seriously? I prefer the view from the balcony over anything in the last 7-8 rows of the main section. You can't even see the scoreboard from those seats, and you feel as if you're in a cave. Granted, the atmosphere on the balcony is different from being on the main level, but it's not as though it's the worst view in AH, by far. You could even argue that view-wise, they're better than being on the ends, with the backboard in front of you.

Anyway, I got my tickets the day they were available, and I'll be down on the end of the court tonight, 6th row. I think it's a good place to start the season, because I'll be able to get a good look at all the new guys' faces.

Unfortunate that Indiana is in a bad financial position. Assembly Hall represents a lot of history, but we really need a new stadium. Glass specializes at this stuff, so maybe we can do it sooner than later.

I would let the students in free, the economy is a wreck ...... does the AD really think most students have $210 bones to shell out on a team that is going be pretty dam bad this season. IU needs a fired up student section for home games, I would let them in for free this season.

Wow, far cry from when I was a student in the early 90's. We had a lottery for student tickets, it was only for 6 conference games and 2 non-conference games, and you had a different seat and location for each game. Even with the tough ecomony, I still find it hard to believe that there are unsold student tickets. As to the issue about students affording it, I remember that we had to purchase at registration, so I know mine went on 'financial aid' :)
